EXCELLENT STAFF, Hotel NEEDS MAJOR UPDATING

We stayed from 8/5-8/12/16. Wonderful, excellent staff; Fernando (Events Manager), Gerardo (Front-desk), Carlos (jet-ski guy), Hector (bellhop), Restaurant staff, the photographer, housekeeping, and amigo behind the grill (all went above and beyond, were friendly, and provided EXCELLENT customer service). It was great that all non-motorized equipment were available for use for free and having a concert on the beach was GREAT (kudos to Fernando for organizing this).
However, the hotel itself needs MAJOR, MAJOR updating. The location is too perfect and too beautiful not to invest on the actual hotel. The bathroom counters, floors, shower doors, toilet seats, room walls, the paintings, the furniture, the linens, the sink, even the closet doors SHOULD ALL be replaced. Additionally, since the only place to get wi-fi is in the lobby, pls. replace the AC system! The food also needs overhauling. Everything seems to taste the same and we don't get the significance of the formal restaurant when the food is exactly the same as what you can get in the buffet (minus the presentation). I am sure that if this hotel was updated, more people will return and will actually recommend this resort but it would be quite embarrassing to recommend this hotel with its current standing. We truly appreciate the staff for making the best with what they have, however, pls consider the feedback if this resort wants to stay in business. We'd hate to see the workers lose a place of employment.
