Diving, and more diving

Small room, very little storage, but clean. Food was as expected for an all inclusive, okay. Staff was friendly and pleasant.

Fourth stay

Our fourth time staying here. Food is good and safe. We think the buffet is better than the specialty restaurants. The Italian food chef Rodrigo was great. Service was very good. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our bed was pretty soft and I learned to sleep on the edge so my back would not be sore in the morning. If you are scuba diving the hotel is located near great diving spots. However, if you want to dive with a dive company other than the resort company dresses, it can be a pain. They will not let you pay for the use of the dock. Management insists that the shop pay them. That means your fellow divers wait on the boat while someone from the boat runs to the office to pay. Total bs. They are the only hotel I am aware of that charges a fee for dock usage. Love the place but this will probably be our last stay. The dock thing might seem petty but for us it has become a deal breaker

It is nice to hear that you enjoyed your vacation, the services and our beautiful facilities. We would like to explain how the charge of the pier works and why it is done. The usd charge to external companies depends on the amount of people that they move from our hotel and absolutely all dive and tour companies on the island are aware of this, as this has been the practice for 6 years. Under no circumstance do we charge our guests, as they are free to use our facilities. When we talk about guest safety, this is what we mean: The companies that come to our property and pay this fee, also undergo a revision of their legal status by us. That also includes the company that is currently operating in our facilities, which is also an external company. We request their permits, insurance and overall legal paper work; so that we know they have everything in order. Some companies do not have insurance. Also they must comply with certain environmental regulations as the hotel is located inside the national marine park and is Green Globe certified, it is one of our obligations to ensure that everyone that operates in the area follow such regulations. There are many other companies, that come to our hotel to pick up our guests with no problems. The fee is small and if their papers are in order, they have nothing to worry about. So we deeply regret that you suffered a bad experience because of this, perhaps due to lack of clear information on our part. We will do our best to make sure our guests are better informed to avoid misunderstandings. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to our hotel. Sincere Regards,

A great choice for your vacation!

Cons: inform customers at check in that you have to have your passport to get US dollars converted to pesos. would like to have drawers for clothes.
Location: mainly we were there to dive.
We loved being close to the dive sites. Great staff and food galore! We loved eating out by the pool during lunch. The staff is very friendly. We used the gym facilities/fair...but at least they had one. Great drinks...and I loved my cappuccinos.

It is a paradise....

We loved everything... We are pretty low budget people and easy to please, but this place was so comfortable we didn't want to leave... the staff was so wonderful... they act like you are just as important as everyone eveyone else...they never made us feel uncomfortable for not booking tours with them, or renting cars or scooters from town... but the dive shop kind of gave us the cold shoulder when they realized we didn't use their dive team....it was a bit cheaper for us to do it in town, so I would suggest that they work on that.... that was our only complaint. We came and left as we pleased, were always greeted by friendly fun staff , an the buffets were open as late as 10 :00 So THAT was wonderful because we were put and about all day.... the food was really quite good, something for everyone, as long as you could realize they do things different than america :) it was all fresh and tasty! We just had the best time... the maids were so sweet and talented with the towel animals on our beds everyday, what a treat. This is a great place to stay..... 3 cheers for Iberostar cozumel....

Not very good

Beach is rocky can't swim. Occidental next door has sandy beach. Food was average at best. I dive with paradise divers. Dressel has about 20 people on a boat. Paradise max 6. Pool not bad and entertainment good. I would not go back.

In regard to your comment about the beach, we would like to let you know that the reason for the rocky entrance is none other than the fact that we are located near the reefs in the south part of the Island, and are also inside the National Park (protected area). That is why we located a ladder in our pier which our guests use comfortably to swim or snorkel and enjoy the beautiful fauna of the area. Great hotel

Pros: Clean, beds were comfortable, AC in the room was great, food was ecxellent, staff very attentive
Cons: Music in the lobby for dancing
Location: Scuba diving
Hotel is great. Stayed there from the 16th through the 20th of April and loved it. Rooms were clean, AC ice cold and the bed was nice and comfy. Food was ecxellente and the staff very attentive

Just got back from our trip to Iberostar. The minute you step out of the shuttle, you are greeted with friendly faces. Its only 30 minutes from the airport. Check in was quick and on time. It is not a huge resort which I enjoyed. Even though I went during a school holiday, there weren't many children at all. The beach is small, but line with beautiful coral reefs. The dock has access for scuba boats and an area to snorkel. Snorkel gear rental is $2 an hour. The food was great, especially the steakhouse! The staff were friendly and really made the experience so much better. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. You get a hammock on the deck of your room. I was so sad to leave, especially cause I met so many great people. The wild life you see just on the resort is amazing. I'm not sure why people are complaining, but would really recommend this hotel, and I'm a picky person.

Excellent Resort at a Great Price

Pros: Great diving, extremely friendly and attentive staff, very good food for a large resort.
Cons: The pool noise is constant, and it is hard to escape. The "musak" is everywhere and very annoying.
Location: Diving
This is my first time at an Iberostar property. Normally we choose smaller specialty resorts, but we wanted to try the diving in Cozumel, and also were looking for a bit of a savings this year, so decided on the Iberostar Cozumel all inclusive. We were not disappointed! The property is set in a beautiful location at the end of the resort strip on Cozumel's west (leeward) side. The beach was a beautiful white sand, leading into crystal clear Caribbean waters. There was very good snorkeling right off the beach w/ both rays and starfish on display. The beach is west facing, making it a great spot to enjoy sunsets with a drink in hand! The rooms at Iberostar are located in a series of 4 room bungalows, clustered on either side of the pool. Room selection can be a bit "iffy", so take care to make sure you are not too close to the pool, which can be very loud. There are not many "premium" rooms, and most open into a "courtyard" type setting, w/ pleasant if unremarkable views. That said, the rooms are clean and well appointed. Beds are comfortable, the showers have good hot water, and the maid service is efficient and friendly. We chose Cozumel because of the diving, and the Dressell Dive shop at the Iberostar did a great job of providing a rich buffet of diving opportunities. The reefs are all very close, so the dive boats come in and out after each dive. This is great, since it provides the avid diver w/ a lot of choices for when he/she wants to dive.

Hotel is quiet and has dive center on site

Staff is excellent and always helpful. Resort is clean and neat. Variety of food on buffets, although the specialty restaurants could use some improvements. Rooms were clean and serviced regularly- mattresses need to be replaced. This was our second time to be here for diving, and we were happy with our stay. We chose to go after spring break to avoid large families and the kiddos, since ours kids are now grown. It was a really good choice. Pool was accesibl and resort was peaceful overall.

A- resort

Great pool, tasty drinks, great staff. Food was just okay, but not terrible. At least there were lots of options and the buffet was essentially open all day. Beach was rocky and not great swimming, but we rented a jeep for $130 ($65 plus fees/insurance) for the day and went to the other side of the island and swam at a nice beach there. The rooms were pretty basic inside, but we didn't spend much time in them. They were really well air conditioned though, so that was great at night! We really liked the separate little huts where the rooms are. Ours was a one of the farther away ones, but it was actually a very quick walk to everything. It was very quiet and peaceful. We spent lots of time on the hammock on the porch. Our group really liked sitting in the lobby area playing games and getting drinks from the lobby bar. My friend and I also got massages and really enjoyed that. All in all, it was a great week. Could have had better food, but the service made up for it!
