Wonderful small quiet hotelPosted Oct 5, 2015
Cons: More English channels on the TV. Safe with a digital code instead of a large key.
Location: Playa Azul is located on the northern side of the island on a small but nice sandy beach.
We stayed at Playa Azul from 9/26/15 to 10/3/15. It was just what we were looking for. No blaring disco music around the pool, no entertainment staff trying to get you to play games. A wonderful small quiet hotel on a small but very nice beach. We snorkeled right from the beach in the clear, warm ocean. The staff at the hotel was outstanding. Very helpful and always smiling. The staff could not do enough for you. If you are lucky enough to have Carlos take care of you at the restaurants you will be happy. He made suggestions on the menu and remembered our drink preferences. All the waiters were very helpful. A few places for improving would be more cable channels on the TV. There was only one English channel and there was no sound to that channel! The safe requires a large key that you must carry around instead of a digital code. Other than that everything was great!

Love the lifePosted Sep 14, 2015
Pros: The staff is like family. It had been over five years since we had been there and staff greeted us by name.
This was the third stay at Playa Azul and will return again next year. It's a small hotel so the service is so individual. Some of the staff has been there for over 20 years that in its self says something. Snorkleing in the front of the property is wonderful, comfortable chairs and the beach bar is great. We also enjoy the food, breakfast comes with room rate along with golf.

Beautiful view of the beach from every roomPosted Aug 18, 2015
Location: We rented a jeep for $60 us dollars a day and it was well worth it. We literally drove around the entire island.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is a beautiful beach with easy access to snorkel and play right at the hotel. The pool is a bit small, but we didn't use it once because the ocean is literally steps from the pool. They have a great outdoor bar where the adults can sit and have drinks and eat and the kids are only steps away jumping off the pier and snorkeling. We had a blast! Just came home yesterday and we are already planning our trip back. Everyone is so friendly in town and it is so laid back. Most definitely a relaxing vacation with or without kids.

Charming spot, fantastic water, great valuePosted Aug 2, 2015
Plays azul is a charming hotel with a delightful relaxed vibe. Great swimming and snorkeling. Room had the right things, not fancy bath supplies but enough hangars. Food and drinks were reasonable and the staff were lovely.

Beautiful views with beach-front snorjelingPosted Jul 19, 2015
Playa Azul is nice hotel with amazing views right in front of the beach. The beach itself, though beautiful, has a lot of rocks, so while really nice for snorkeling, it's not great for swimming. The room we booked was ocean front and the view was amazing. However, the room decor was on the older side. Having said that, the room was very spacious with a huge bathroom and separate sitting room. The waiters at the restaurant were so nice and helpful and the food was pretty good. This hotel seems to cater to locals more than foreigners-- lots of Spanish-speaking families, but everyone seemed to be able to communicate well in English as well. Pros: food, room size, views, snorkeling. Cons: rocks on the beach, only 2 restaurants (all-inclusive), small hotel so no entertainment other than the beach at the hotel facility. Overall we were pleased with our experience.

Pros: The location is out of town which made it quiet, other than the family that had 4 teenage boys that left on our second day. The service was wonderful
Cons: We stayed in the older section on the 3rd floor which has no elevator. Wished we had known that due to both having bad knees but we managed-greatview
Location: Town square at night!! Beautiful lights!! Palmeras has the best enchiladas!
Small beach area made it seem very private. Great snorkeling! Saw so many species of fish including a small octopus and reef squid there was not need to venture elsewhere. The moment we exited the beautiful blue water and sat in our chairs the bar staff came over and asked if we wanted drinks!!! Great service!!

Nice hotelPosted Jul 13, 2015
It's a nice hotel with a great friendly staff!! Needs more beach area! Rocks all along the beach! Take water shoes if you're going. Bed was hard. But everything was really quite pleasant!

Great Place to Relax!!!Posted Jun 24, 2015
Pros: They keep the facility clean and spotless. The breakfast buffet has plenty of choices and they will cook eggs to order.
This was our second stay at the Playa Azul in the last 6 months and without a doubt, we'll be back. The entire staff is professional, friendly and very responsive if you have any questions or needs. Unlike other Hotels that we've stayed at in Cozumel, no one here will try to sell you a timeshare, an excursion, or a rental car, which is very refreshing and relaxing. They have plenty of beachside and poolside seating and both areas are conveniently located near restrooms and most importantly, the pool side bar. We choose not to do the all inclusive package as we travel about the island a lot during the day, but we found the prices for drinks and menu items at the Playa Azul are truly reasonable during the times we hung around there. We enjoyed the snorkeling very much right off their beach, plenty of fish to see. Wifi service worked pretty well, had some spotty service on our first day, but not a problem after that. One tip this time of year: Mosquitoes are quite thick around the island, so bring plenty of repellent.
