We stayed at the Explorean/ Fiesta Americana from 9/4/21 to 9/11/21. All the pictures were taken during this time.
Waterfront is Closed:
-The entire waterfront area is closed. This includes the pier, all restaurants, pool, dive shop, over water hammocks, etc. There are also no chairs, umbrellas, or anything else out for people to sit on.
-Let me point out again that the entire waterfront area is closed. No eating by the water, no having a dive company pick you up at the pier, no relaxing in the sun on a lounger, nothing. As this is 2/3 of the resort, this is a very big thing.
-No one from Explorean/ FA contacted us to say this was the condition of the resort. It is almost like they pretend that there isn't a waterfront. They don't even talk about it. If you ask about the waterfront being closed, the response it along the lines of, so? We moved the restaurant so it's all good.
-We struggled at the resort due to the attitude of the waterfront being closed. We were very unhappy with our stay and asked several times to different staff what could be done and mentioned we wanted a refund, but no one took us seriously. The weekend manager did put us in a bigger room at the Fiesta Americana side but the room flooded overnight. They then moved us to a room with a pool outside. However, the pool was stagnant during mosquito season and wasn't ever cleaned while we were there. The pool was so bad I didn't even get in it.
