Spacious Room

Posted Dec 14, 2017
Pros: Staff, room, reasonable rate, location
Cons: Either spruce up the breakfast to make it a little unique (which might be difficult) or take down the picture of custom made omelet on your site.
Spacious quiet room... two queens, sofa and small desk. Small, but adequate bathroom. Very pleasant staff. Standard small buffet breakfast, e.g. scrambled eggs, bacon, eggs and make your own waffles, etc..

Noisy Adjoining Room

Posted Nov 3, 2017
Pros: The staff and the breakfast were awesome.
Cons: Soundproofing between adjoining rooms. Main drapes should be wide enough to be able to be drawn the entire width of the window.
We were in an adjoining room but not with anyone we know. The door between us provided no soundproofing at all. The lady swore continually and was very loud!! The main drapes do not reach the entire width of the window so we had a nearby light from a business shining directly into our room. The second night we were there, the lady was continually loud and swearing so we complained to the front desk and we were upgraded to another room, which was on the first floor. Therefore, with the drapes not being able to be drawn, anyone walking by could see you and whatever you were doing if you had the lights on. It made using the Jacuzzi a bit disconcerting!!

Thank you for your review. I am so sorry that your neighbor acted in such a way that affected your stay. As far as the drapes go, we have black out curtains. They are located behind the decorative drapes. Lets us know next time you are in town and we can show you where they are located.

Great Place To Stay!

Posted Oct 22, 2017
Location: The Metra (train) station is only a few blocks away but you would never know it it's so quiet! Only $8 weekend unlimited ride passes!
Wonderful place to stay! We stayed here for a weekend to visit the Illinois Railway Museum and Chicago for a day. The rooms and grounds were clean and well kept. The beds and pillows were clean and comfortable. The staff we interacted with were always pleasant and gave excellent customer service. I wish I would have paid the extra $40+ for the last night we decided to stay over in Crystal Lake. We stayed elsewhere and TOTALLY regretted it!!

Not What I Had Expected

Posted Sep 30, 2017
Three disappointments: 1. The chlorinated taste and smell of the water. 2. The offensive "human" smell on the pillow and mattress. I am a stomach sleeper that was forced to sleep on my back to avoid the odor. I wondered if and when the mattresses were cleaned and the pillows sanitized. 3. The thin walls that allowed me to hear two neighbors coughing at 5 a.m.

1 person ghost Hotel

Posted Sep 6, 2017
We stayed for 1 night during labor day weekend & even though we were told the hotel was full, it seem empty. TV wasn't turning on, called front desk & no one answered. Went several times to front desk to look for attendant because she was busy to answer the phone & was too busy doing something else. It looks like it's a 1 person operation during the night shift. Terrible for the staff. But that's what happens when the hotel is run by a 3rd party independent owner & only has the franchise name as a front.

Customer dis-service

Posted Sep 5, 2017 on Hotels
Unbelievable check-in experience. I had reserved a two queen bed room for my spouse and two teen children. When we entered, it was a king with a pullout couch. Personnel at the front desk first challenged me on my assertion I had reserved two queens, then when I showed the reservation, they indicated "preferences" are not guaranteed when booking through a third party like Hotels.com. I don't consider total bed space a preference. It is a required attribute. I would not have stayed at that hotel if they did not have a two queen room. Interestingly a vacant two queen room was 'found' when I would not accept their reply. The excuse of being 'sold out' seems unlikely with no more than 50 cars in the parking lot. If room type reserved is really optional and no intent to make things right, my business goes elsewhere. The hotel itself did not merit any lofty attitude by the staff. They did advertize future renovation. It needs it.

We apologize for the disappointing service you received from our staff. Our team works hard to make sure our guests are comfortable and receiving our best service.Unfortunately when you purchase a room through a third party, the majority of the rates available only guarantee a room and not bed type. When booking directly through the hotel or through other channels, bed type is guaranteed. We appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention, and hope for another opportunity to exceed your expectations in the future.
