Central location

Posted Jul 17, 2017
Convenient to everything - an easy walk to restaurants main square and riverfront! The room was comfortable, but a little noisy in the evening, with the courtyard restaurant just outside our door (no noise from the road, though). Breakfast was plentiful, and wait staff were friendly. Check in and out were efficient and we were grateful to have our luggage stored safely behind the desk while we waited for airport transportation. We would return to this hotel, should we make a trip again to Cuenca!

Cuenca Hotel

Pros: History and location, plus the breakfast was delicious!!
Cons: nothing
Location: city center has a lot of old churches and museums
Very nice hotel, very historic with a lot of charm, rooms were small but it is expected since the hotel is over 200 years old! it was very close (1 block) from the historic center.

Centrally located and beautifully appointed

The Hotel Santa Lucia was a great find. Within 2 blocks of the central plaza in Cuenca, the hotel has 2 onsite restaurants, one with traditional Ecuadorian food and one with more international cuisine. The decor is lovely, in the style of an elegant colonial mansion. We had a large room with a window/balcony on the street. The bathroom modern and clean. Staff was very helpful with all our needs and we were very happy with our 5 night stay.

Very helpful and polite staff. Good food.

Pros: The atmosphere and the staff.
Cons: Sound proofing as we hear all noises from the lobby.
Location: located in the historical part of Cuenca so lots to see.
I was my first stay in a "boutique" style hotel. Very nice change from regular hotels.

Great location and service

Posted Jan 22, 2017
Pros: Clean, comfortable, great service, beautiful courtyard interior.
Cons: The noise level. The rooms overlook a courtyard restaurant which is noisy and loudly plays music until late at night. Bring earplugs!
This a beautifully renovated hacienda that is very conveniently located. The staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating, and the restaurant where breakfast is served was good.

Character and location

Posted Jan 8, 2017
Location: BTW, if you are thinking of being in Cuenca next Christmas, plenty of shops and restaurants are open - unlike some other Latin American cities.
The historic center of Cuenca is all walkable and this hotel is nicely located just a couple of blocks from the main square, not far from the river, and in a small street that is quiet at night. The hotel has lots of character - we had a nice room with a mezzanine and a second big room on the top floor. The best thing was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They arranged a last-minute tour for us and helped me get an urgent contract dealt with - all over Christmas. The people in the restaurant figured out our breakfast preferences and by the fourth day (when we were in a rush to get to the airport) it was all ready quickly. Thank you for an enjoyable Christmas.
