Great location and ambience

Posted Nov 15, 2016
Pros: Décor, room and location
Cons: One of the clerks "made" a reservation for us for a tour, but the operator never received the call and we missed the Tour
Location: Walking distance from the main churches and plazas in Cuenca
Its location is very good, less than 10 minute walk from the main Plaza and Cathedral. It is restored and the furniture they selected is really nice, it resembles a House of the 1800's on a very sophisticated way. Our room was very nice, comfortable, hot water, wifi. Breakfast is good, they have Tea/Coffee time at 5pm. It worked pretty well for us

Please give us shelves and hooks!

Posted Feb 3, 2016 on Hotels
The hotel was excellent for its location and all the open spaces available to guests within the facility. My husband and I found a lovely niche for playing cards, another for reading, and so on. Nice breakfasts and friendly service. The one drawback is not just that the rooms are very small, but the fact that the management hasn't thought of the comforts they could provide with shelves and hooks. The bathroom, for example, only has a pedestal sink and not a single spot for placing your toiletries! How about a couple of shelves right next to the mirror? How about a few hooks like behind the door, on the wall? Same with the room itself. How costly would it be to put in a line of hooks--hang your hats, camera, jacket? A nice wide shelf on the wall, not a puny 4" shelf, but a real one! Small cost, great comfort for guests!!!

OK place but several little problems. Bath was tiny and had no fan or light over the sink...Very hard to shave. Room had very little ventilation and was stuffy.

Well located family run hotel - nice decor, friendly staff. Wifi doesn't work well in the rooms because of the building layout (old colonial), breakfast choices are limited. Good value for the price.

Great hotel if you desire city center location

Posted Aug 2, 2015
Pros: Cleanliness, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable accommodations, good breakfasts
Cons: Can't think of a thing. Maybe, a longer breakfast period would be nice -- I don't get hungry for breakfast until later.
Location: Location is great, unless you have dogs. No grass area near. But close to beautiful river and its park. Shopping & restaurants right there.
Morenica del Rosario is a pet-friendly hotel in the center of downtown Cuenca. We needed a hotel that would accept dogs, and Morenica more than fulfilled this need. The hotel accommodations and staff were all wonderful. The ONLY drawback, and this is nothing against the hotel, was that our dogs need an area with grass to relieve themselves last thing at night and first thing in the morning. We had to walk about 4 blocks from the hotel to find a little park area like that. The central plaza and park are very close to the hotel, but all the grass is enclosed in fences, so not available to dogs. So, if you have dogs, you might want to check out some other places that have a grass area around the hotel. But, the hotel itself, and all of its employees we encountered, were world-class. Thank you, Morenica.

Avoid

Posted Jun 5, 2015
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Modernize, not worth the money as is.
Location: Location is good.
Arrived saturday at 830 pm and their restaurant was closed. Room was dark, dreary, outdated.
