Fantastic Hotel

Pros: The friendliness of the staff and the room was gorgeous.
Cons: It was a little chilly in our room when we arrived (it warmed up when we used the heating)
Location: Very convenient, just off the main road.
The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and welcoming. They were chatting to new and regular customers alike. The hotel was clean and well presented with a pool room full of games which kept us entertained. Our room was clean and tidy full of character and charm. We chose to eat at the hotel and the food was superb. The only downside to our stay was that when we arrived at our room it was very cold, however after turning the radiators on and the heater in the room it became a much more pleasant temperature.

Pros: Friendly staff; good food; clean and well maintained rooms
Cons: wifi was only available in lobby
Location: Lovely country atmosphere
The hotel is absolutely in keeping with the distrcit and its surroundings. it is maintained well. The food is excellent, the ambience is wonderful and the staff were friendly and helpful. We would recommend it without hesitation. It was evident that walkers, in particular, are welcomed.

A very friendly welcoming hotel. The room was basic and in need of a freshen up but suited our needs. The food was excellent and the staff couldn't have been better.

Could do better

Pros: Situation was perfect for us.
Cons: A bit grubby in places
The hotel was fairly comfortable but getting a bit tatty around the edges. Our room was a bit dusty - on the headboard and walls and the towel of the previous occupant was still hanging on the back of the bathroom door. Staff were all very friendly and helpful but for a lovely old coaching inn it could be so much better with a little bit of effort. Breakfast was excellent and the evening meal we ate there was good and wholesome.

Not for families really

Pros: Clean and functional on a basic level
Cons: Noise until midnight
Location: Near a wired industrial processing plant building
We chose the hotel for a sat night stay to accommodate 2adults and 3 children in one room. It is really a pub with rooms and the family room was above the bar with music and punter noise loud so difficult to sleep and get children settled. Plenty of room with 2double beds and bunk beds but bunks very wobbly and squeaky slats missing etc but sheets towels etc all really clean and food great but no children's menu just shared an adult meal.

Very welcoming. The family room was fine for our needs, though didn't have a bath. You could hear music from the bar until past midnight - didn't affect the kids but kept us awake, when we would rather have been sleeping.

This was a last minute booking and couldn't have been better. My room was upgraded without asking and was very comfortable with a good en-suite bathroom and flat screen TV. Large comfortable bed with quality linens. Food was great. After the enormous breakfasts, I thought I would never need to eat again, but after a day of hiking I was ready to choose either from the bar or restaurant food The atmosphere of the hotel is unique and wonderful, and the staff courteous and helpful, and cheerful. WiFi is only available in the bar area, which is a good excuse to be there!
