Uitstekend hotel centraal gelegen in Willemstad

Posted Feb 4, 2016

Fourth time

Posted Jan 27, 2016
I have loved the Avila for a long time. The small, calm beach is marvelous. The restaurant is top notch. I Iove to sit on the terrace and sip a drink or have lunch. But a new owner took over one month ago. So far, the biggest -- and worst -- change is the closure of Cafe Barista. This was really a mistake. The shop, for some stupid reason, is now only open from 9-12:30. So if you want a cold soda orbrun out of suntan lotion, plan it early.

Great value beach hotel

Posted Jan 27, 2016
Avila Beach Hotel is a great value beach hotel near downtown Willemstad. Some of the rooms could use some refreshing, repainting, and repair, but the amenities, staff, and beaches are excellent.

Curacao well worth a visit. Willemstad fascinating

Posted Jan 11, 2016
Pros: Very helpful management & staff, organised service. 5* facilities. Pretty clean, safe private beach with calm sea. Soft sandy beach raked daily.
Location: Fishalicious restaurant 100 yds away. 20 mins walk into town or Mambo beach. Visit Divers of the Caribbean, maritime & slavery museum, pontoon bridge.
Paul Kok & Avila team were all friendly & unusually helpful. The hotel is elegant & clean. Beautiful, clean & safe private beach offering well organised events & quick bar & restaurant service, which is unusual in Curacao. Curacao is a very interesting island with lots to see.Willemstad is pretty & can boast a fascinating history, largely influenced by Dutch settlers & Pirates. In our 10 days we hired a car from hotel (only taking 10 mins) & i saw many great birds inc yellow breasted orioles, ospreys, pelicans, parakeets, flamingos & a curacao whist my husband & teenage son saw turtles, octopus, conga eel, giant puffer & lionfish 200 metres from shore during 5 inexpensive scuba dives with Marc & Juanito at Divers of the Caribbean. Your (Expedia) suggested KLM flights also deserve praise for generous, courteous on board service. We have holidayed in beautiful selected 5*hotels in Barbados, St Lucia, Jamaica, & Dominican & they were not as all round interesting, or as reasonably priced as Avila & Curacao. Please try this gem before it loses any of many charms.

Pros: the staff was nice
Cons: Please see my comments above
Location: The location is good since you can walk to Punda.
I iwould like to begin by stating that I normally do not complain and am an experienced traveler however, for the amount of money that I paid to stay at the Avila in Curacao I was very disappointed. The bedroom and the bathroom were separated by tinted glass wall. I would get up from my side of the bed and take two steps and was inside the bathroom. There was very little privacy. My room was not made on January 1st. Not sure if they were working on a reduced staff schedule since it was a holiday however, if this was the case, they should also reduce the the roon rate for the particular day. These were the two most impacting issues that dissatisfied me and I will not go back to Avila again and I will certainly not recommend the hotel to anyone . You can go to the Hilton, Mariott, and the Seaquarium, they have great rooms, good beach. THis was not my first time in Curacao. I chose the Avila because I wanted to be close to my sister who had rented at the Strand (also a great place and walking distance to Punda).

Great Holiday Destination

Posted Dec 23, 2015
Pros: Location, friendly staff. Good bar facilities especially Schooner bar where the staff were brilliant. Great evening entertainment in Blues Bar.
Cons: Food becomes repetitive especially in Blues bar. Food good at Schooner Bar.
Location: 15 minute walk to Willenstad though hotel shuttle bus every morning and afternoon. Good restaurants nearby. Local busses will pick up outside hotel.
Avila is a lovely hotel in a fantastic location. Rooms spacious and very clean. House Keeping staff very helpful and thorough. Bar Staff friendly and attentive. In fact all staff helpful and friendly. Grounds of hotel lovely and well kept. Nothing is too much trouble at this hotel.

Nice hotel on the beach

Posted Dec 23, 2015
Pros: Proximity to beach and downtown, facilities.
Cons: Better pillows for the beds in Blues wing. Also some quality control of kitchentte content will make stay more comfortable.
Location: Walking distance to Willemstad, easy toe explore the synagogue, downtown Willemstad, pontoon bridge.
Comfortable hotel on the beach, good swimming and relaxing. Walking distance from Willemstad. Food good, but expensive (as at most places that caters for tourist in Curacoa). Recommend rooms in Blues wing.

Well maintained hotel.

Posted Dec 19, 2015
Pros: Very secluded and quiet. Good restaurants.
Cons: Added more umbrellas on the beaches.
Location: Hotel is very secludes and there is nothing around to do. Nearby grocery store is not a high standard but good enough.
Hotel has three private beaches. Even when see is wavy it still very good to swim; lagoons are well protected. Stuff is very friendly. Excellent place to relax.
