A most lovely experience!

Monasterio was our backup choice and we had been slightly disappointed that our first choice (the one next door) was fully booked. But Monasterio turned out to be such a beautiful, elegantly adorned place. We were greeted with a huge surprise of room upgrade from junior suite to the royal suite. The room was impeccable, but the staff was most definitely the best part of Hotel Monasterio. The service was everything you would expect of a top-notch hotel, but in addition to the professional range, Monasterio offers a personal touch and cares about its guests. I came back from a day trip to Machu Picchu with a terrible headache due to altitude sickness. The staff who came to turn down our bed hurried to bring me coca tea, checked the oxygen and helped ordering some broth to relieve my symptom. Had I not been that sick, I would love to thank them more properly. Of course, they were also extremely knowledge and helpful about getting around and shopping in Cusco. It only take a trainee concierge gentleman one minute to detail a map about how to find Maca powder in the local market--and it was so impressively accurate! Before we remembered to ask, we had spent hours wandering the city for the product to no avail.
