Property is very clean and located at one end of the town so is very quiet and private. The staff are very friendly and go out of the way to make you feel comfortable. The onsite restaurant has amazing meals. Will stay here again.

Everything was nice, hotel was clean and comfortable. The only thing I didn't like was that the boss or administrator did not want to lend an umbrella to our guide in that torrential rain, even though we told him that we would give him an umbrella the next day, he left and arrived at his hotel wet.

There was nothing we did not enjoy about our stay. The staff was supportive and considerate at each and every moment. They went out of their way to help us feel like we belonged. They assisted us with luggage, with our excursions, and with our general questions. We cannot say enough how much we appreciated the entire Sumaq staff. The facilities were clean and easy to use. The breakfast was delicious and the wait staff was consistently available to satisfy any and all of our needs. Not only would we love to come back for another visit, but we will be sure to recommend this hotel to all of our friends and family. Outstanding job!

It's often hard to review a stay when you've only had the pleasure of staying one night, however there were definitely some stand out points which made Sumaq worthy of its rating. Firstly staff are lovely, and as we arrived on the earlier train into Aguas Calientes they offered us an early check-in, greatly appreciated. The room itself, is as expected when basically sleeping riverside, you'll hear the river as if white noise the entire night, I Loved it, others might not. Amenities wise, some of the best we had, and L'Occitane products were LUSH! The bed itself felt a little damp, however this might be normal considering the climate in the area, We still had a great sleep regardless, and woke up fresh and ready to take on Machu pichhu! Our package was Half board and included dinner, DELICIOUS! Honestly, we polished all three courses off and although we didn't go for traditional Peruvian food (the options were there) it was hands down some of the best food we had throughout our time in the country. So this set the tone and we were very excited for breakfast the next morning, to our disappointment this wasn't up to par... Very few options, and everything just fell a bit flat here. We would probably skip this unless you're content with cereal and some coffee. Overall however our stay was lovely, and we'd definitely recommend Sumaq when visiting Aguas Calientes and Machu Pichhu.. Even if just for the dinner!

Nunca nos dieron nuestras bebidas de cortesía y ni nos informaron de cuando las podíamos tomarlas, es un hotel muy caro para el nivel del hotel no tiene aire acondicionado y la televisión no sirve en los días que estuvimos ahí no pudimos ver ni noticias ni nada de televisión. Y los alimentos están más o menos no para el precio. La recepcionista no brinda información y nos da lo que teníamos derecho y tampoco me solucionó lo del aire ni lo de la televisión ni un ventilador nos llevaron.

En el check in tenemos el reporte que le brindamos bebida de bienvenida que constó de una bebida de la estación. Acerca del aire acondicionado se les brindó la opción de ventiladores. El estar ubicados en un santuario histórico con biodiversidad en su entorno, nos compromete a ser un hotel sostenible que cuide su entorno. Es por ello que brindamos la opción de utilizar ventiladores en las habitaciones. Otro punto, sobre el uso del televisor fue reportado a nuestra área encargada y solucionada en su momento. Reiteramos las disculpas del caso, por favor le invitamos a poder comunicarnos para brindarle mas explicación sobre su estadía. Muy agradecidos.

What a wonderful hotel in every way. Small, clean, quiet and excellent service. If you are planning a trip to Machu Picchu peublo (Aguas Calientes) this is the place to stay. It is next to an active train line, but noise from that is infrequent to not be an issue. We also booked two excursions through the hotel which were excellent. The restaurant is delicious and the spa services were also great. A river view room would have a balcony overlooking the river and with breathtaking Mountain View’s. We took a garden view room that had no balcony but a small window faced the rear garden wall. If we go back we will definitely book a river view room!

Amazing 2 night stay at Sumaq. I'm really happy that we picked this hotel as it made the whole trip feel luxurious - from the moment a bell-boy meets you at the train station to take care of your bags and the welcome drink after a long walk in Machu Picchu, to deliciuos breakfast / dinner paired with amazing cocktails from a friendly bard staff. We stayed in Junior suit and the room was spacious and well decorated. The hotel is just a short walk from the train station and the bus stop.

Sumaq hotel is next to a noisy road and next to a river. They gave us an upgrade to a room next to the restaurant and in front of the elevator. Noise since 4 am. It was not an upgrade but a downgrade. Very disappointed!

Sitio muy agradable con gran servicio, localización y habitaciones. Lo peor de la estancia fueron dos cosas: Precio excesivo y nos obligaron a coger media pensión (no había otra opción) y el desayuno era tirando a malo… Desayuno de hotel de 3/4*. Buen sitio pero no vale los 425€/noche que pagamos.

Es un gran lugar, la visa al río es imponente y fascinante. Respetaron nuestra categoría Expedia VIP, además de que nos apoyaron con todas las dudas con respecto al pueblo y a Machu Picchu. Un gran plus es la asistencia de equipaje hasta el tren. Su atención es inmejorable.

Beautiful View
Such a wonderful location to enjoy Machu Picchu. The views are beautiful and the rooms are luxurious. They met us at our train to take our bags so it was very easy to explore the town on foot.

Best place to stay in Machu Picchu
Sumaq was the nicest hotel in the Machu Picchu area. Nicer than the Sanctuary but at a better cost. The only difference was it was in Aguas Caliente and not 15 minutes at the entrance of Machu Picchu itself. Great, caring staff. Suitable rooms.

Great stay. Only comment I don’t remember seen at the time of reservation that they did not have A/C as is green hotel. Temperature was ok because location but I will like to know that in advance while booking. Breakfast and dinner included in the price were very good.
