Lovely hotel with character, 5 min from the square

Pros: The rooms, staff, breakfast, location.
Location: The square is full of great restaurants. We took a fun and delicious cooking class from Peruvian Cooking Classes on Nueva Baja.
We stayed here with our family of 6 (4 kids aged range 10-14) and everyone loved it. The rooms are beautifully appointed with gorgeous stonework. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, The breakfast was perfect. Eggs cooked to order and a bounty of good fruits, meats, cheeses, etc. We would absolutely stay here again!

Poor customer service at the reception.

Pros: Convenient location and good breakfast.
Cons: Customer service. Bathroom door.
Location: Near Plaza des Armas.
Poor customer service. We were confirmed in writing to have a pick up from airport. No one was waiting. Arrived on time, called hotel 2 times from the airport and were told we did not have any pick up scheduled so should take a taxi (despite having a long email stream confirming the exact time and pick up). When I asked the hotel to reimburse for the taxi, I was then told that the hotel came to the airport and waited for us so they would not reimburse us. Total lie. Also, the bathroom doesn't have a door, and the shower doesn't have an enclosure so it was freezing to take a shower. Also, we were encouraged several times to eat in their restaurant, and when we finally did with a group of people, they were totally unprepared to provide food and it took 20 minutes to get a drink and more than 40 minutes to get food. Finally, minor, but annoying - had an electric tea kettle with a 2 round prong plug, but only square outlets in the room - so essentially useless.

Dear guest, The person who was in charge of picking you up was there on time as the others from your tour. They were waiting outside the arrival gate, not inside as we told you. There are taxis inside the arrival gate who overcharge the passengers. Most of the drivers wait outside the arrival gate. We are sorry for the inconvenience this was for you. We always have room for improvement. Best regards

Historical Boutique hotel. Attention and Location!

Pros: Lovingly restored historical house, boutique approach, value,18 ample rooms, modern ammenities, centrally located to walk Cusco historical center.
Cons: Perhaps a more diverse variety on the brakfast (included) menu.
Location: All main attractions, good restaurants, tourist resources, money exchanges . . . are within 6 blocks on foot.
"From timbo to Tambo" . . . steadily and pampered! Cusco is the welcome gate to the Sacred Valley route, and what better rest place to begin the immersion in the events that happened around the region's awesome historical monuments to visit than a historical "Tambo" (hostel in Inca) erected in Cusco circa 1640. An original colonial construction carefully restored and service modernized by the local Polo y de La Borda academic family, minding the intense regional history in the details and furnishings. It offers 18 ample size rooms surrounding 2 colonial internal patios very well appointed with exactly all the furnishings and amenities promoted. Our family of 4 was hosted here on Sep 6 and 7, and then on the 27. The stay was pleasant and the only minor kink due to a confusion (no hotel is error free) by Güido when he assigned us to a corner near works on a new modern wing addition, we were professionally and solicitously attended by Patricia Chávez who made sure that we felt the traditional Cusqueño hospitality with all the care and intensity that they value most. We will surely lodge at Tambo del Arriero on our next visit to the Sacred Valley.

Pros: breakfast
Cons: comfortable chairs in the courtyard to relax in when not out and about since rooms are dark and dingy.
Location: Within walking distance to Plaza de Armas.
Arranged for airport pickup but individual did not check our flight status, so missed him and had to get a taxi. Great breakfast -- Had trouble with plumbing in first room -- second room was much nicer and had walk in shower. First room is difficult to step into high tub for shower. Two days into our stay, the hotel showed two more reservations for me, but I did not show anything in my account via Expedia. I showed them copies of reservations and the staff said they would straighten it out. However, upon check out, I asked the hotel staff to call Expedia while I was there to straighten it out, since I did not have Int'l calling -- they said they would call later. Contacted Expedia upon return home and Expedia attempted to call hotel and the number was invalid. I gave them a number off the business card I took from hotel and that number just rang and rang. Still waiting for this matter to be resolved.

Cusco Hotel

Location: One of the farther hotels from the main Plaza, but still very close. On this street are little stores for water, snacks, etc.
Excellent service. Good breakfast. Good location. About 15 minute walk to Cusco's main plaza. Hotel's restaurant's dinner menu is short, but it was good and flavorful after a long day of travel. The front desk recommended and coordinated our Cusco tour and our car from Cusco to Ollantaytambo through the Sacred Valley. Room had a very nice updated bathroom and a cute loft to sit to make and drink tea. 4 people, two large beds.

Pros: Very attractive old "casona" house converted into a hotel.
Cons: Pillow-top beds, microwave in room
Location: Within a 10 minute walk of the Plaza de Armas.
The hotel staff was pleasant and the room attractive. However, the bed was too hard and gave me a backache. Nonetheless, my stay was just fine.
