It is really close to the metro station and SOGO department stores. There are many eateries and smaller shops for casual shopping. Even though the room is clean, it looks really old and tired. The door key is old style. There is no warm air during winter. So it gets really cold at night when the temperature drops. May be good for budget travellers during summer but not at this time (Dec) when I was there.

- Less than 5mins walk to MRT station for Blue/Brown Line. - close to departmental store ~ SOGO - a lot of eateries, cafes and restaurants - massage centre just next door (opens till 2.30am)

Avoid this hotel. I am not at all a picky traveler, but I would strongly discourage anybody from booking this hotel. The hotel and our room smelled like mildew, and the walls in our room were warped from moisture. We checked out after less than an hour, but the hotel staff refused to refund us. We got in touch with our hotels.com after our travels, but the hotel refused to negotiate with them. The hotel even refused to provide a 50% refund to hotels.com, which is ridiculous because the hotel could have tried to book out at least the 2nd night of our 2-night booking. There are plenty of marvelous affordable hotels in the Da'an area. This is not one of them.

The hotel is undergoing a huge amount of renovation work (Oct. 2018) so it literaly felt like living in a construction site for the whole week. Perhaps when the renovation is completed, it would look nice, but what I saw was very dirty carpet throughout the hotel - but this is not uncommon in hotels in Taiwan. Staff was helpful and friendly.

Nice and cozy hotel in the city centre
2 mins walk to MRT, room is clean (no cigarette smell!), design of hotel is old but quite well maintained. Room size is a bit small but the toilet and bathroom is bigger than usual hotel room. Wi-Fi was working properly. Hotel staffs are polite.

Very accessible for shopping & to public transport
Simply elegant, clean, and comfortable enough for wholesome stay and sound sleep. The staff were very accommodating though they find it very difficult to communicate in English. Nevertheless, they did exert all efforts to attend to our needs as first time tourist to Taiwan.

Do not accept any rooms on first floor
Upon check in, I was told the hotel is fullu booked and the only room available is on ground floor. I accepted the room, given I arrived early and not able to view the room till later. The room is clean, but is old, the bath room does not have proper shower for westener. The jaccuzi tub which I did not dare to use is chiped and repaired. The toilet is an outdated pink. Not to mention the complete bath room and toilet is as big as the sleeping area. Nightmare began when I went to bed. There was a continuous humming noice from outside and it even made the room felt vibrating. I checked and found out the noise was from outside: there were few AC units only a few feet away from the window and was running full force and making the noise. I called the front desk and asked them to felt for themselves. They agreed the noise is loud enough and I am not able to rest, but claim there were no other rooms available. I needed to speak to the manager in the morning or made loud noises to the HO; they would not do anything. Next morning around 8:00am, I spoke with the manager; she immediately put me in a room on the second floor (all ready). The hotel would not do anymore even I had lost a night of rest. They compensated me with 3 pieces of pastry which after a bite, I thought they were trying to poison me.

Great location, great staff, musty room
The hotel staff are tremendously accommodating and kind. The hotel's location is excellent and there is much to see and do in the area. Facilities are minimal. The hotel room smelled badly of mildew and the window opened onto a wall. The room was nonetheless quite clean. The shower is handheld only unless you want to sit on the floor. There is a separate bathtub.

Convenient location but with run down rooms
This is about the fourth time I have stayed in this hotel in the last 4/5 years. The location is great - Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT just 3 mins from the hotel. The breakfast has improved with every stay and they try to serve different food so guests don't have to eat the same thing everyday. Other than location, the good breakfast and the friendly and efficient staff, I probably will not go back again given the pricing and the very jaded rooms and public areas. They have not done any upgrading to anything from the first time I stayed there. There are many newer and better hotels of about the same pricing available. This will probably be the last time I am staying in this hotel - not until they have done some renovation or upgrading to the facilities.
