Quite nice hotelPosted Mar 28, 2016 on Hotels
Hotel location across street from SMU campus. Area is very "clean". Hotel is very nice and first rate. My room was "interior", that is, no windows. That was OK for 1 night, but a bit claustrophobic. I suggest inquiring or adding a request for a room with a window. Hotel provides free shuttle to Greenville Avenue restaurants, with a lot of interesting choices.

Overall, it was a pleasant stay. The staff was a bit disorganized at times, which was a little frustrating. We encountered this at check in, when we needed transportation locally, and at checkout. The location is top notch and the decor modern. As with any Kimpton hotel, they are going for a trendy, W type atmosphere but in this cae the lobby is so tiny that people are almost tripping over themselves to get the free wine. I would stay here again though as the room and location are top notch.
Lots of little extras!Posted Feb 26, 2016 on Hotels
The Lumen was wonderfully located for our recent visit to SMU, and just a short distance from great restaurants and shopping. The rooms were immaculate, and the decor was upscale hipster. The lobby held many nice surprises, including breakfast coffee, mini muffins, and newspapers, and complimentary wine and appetizers were served in the evening. The hotel's restaurant was excellent, and worth a visit even if you are not staying at the Lumen. But why wouldn't you?
