“A unique Scottish hotel that is in the process of being renovated. Food was good and staff friendly, though reception appeared to be unstaffed. My room was one of the older ones so the renovation will be a big benefit but overall the hotel was great value and much better than an anonymous generic chain hotel.”

“Unfortunately it was not an enjoyable stay and the staff were not interested. The beds were clean but that was about it. Windows, wall skirting, ceilings all dirty, stained and lots of cobwebs. Breakfast was okay. We have no water pressure so the shower went cold very quickly. Then would be warm again one there was a bit of pressure. On the second day we had no water at all because they were "watering the potatoes" so they stopped and repressurised the boiler! We were on the second floor. We...

“The bed was very comfortable and despite the head I slept really well both nights. Location is excellent within easy walking distance of town centre. Breakfast was first class both days and set me up perfectly on both days.”

“This is a cracking flat within a short walk of Dumfries town centre. From the outside, the flats don’t look too inspiring, but it’s clearly been renovated recently and it’s been done really nicely. The two rooms are pretty much identical doubles, and the living room/kitchen is a good size. Nice views of the river from most rooms, and a lovely small balcony coming off the main living area. “The staff were some of the best we have ever met and met our needs perfectly. They ensured we had a room that was suitable and went the extra mile to achieve this so a big thank you. “Booked lake view room paying extra. However room 20 had no view. Blocked by some trees, shrubs. The extra bed was laid down on the floor. Was not a pull out sofa or proper single bed as advertised. Macdonalds is the only option in the evening . Parking is easy once it’s basically a service stop.. There is a lake behind the proprietor which is accessible and walkable.”
