Nice manager but fish in tiny tank
DiParkr was very helpful at the front desk. He spoke great English and solved a couple of issues that other staff weren't able to fix. I was mortified to see at least 4 big fish in a tiny tank, though. The fish need either a much larger tank, or please take them to a sanctuary or somewhere where they have space to move around. Please! They're not decor. They're living beings who need better treatment. As far as the hotel, it was nice. The pool was nice. Restaurant and buffet were good and most staff were polite and friendly (except one waiter). Location was along the main road which is congested but there's a mall within walking distance, and a supermarket almost across the street. The bathroom in the room was upgraded and nice. The rest of the room was a little old and smelled musty but not bad.

not so happy stay.
I stayed here for two nights, everytime a single night on my way to my trekking.The rooms were clean and had basic amenities. On my second stay night there was n hot water coming and after talking to front desk they started hot water after 30 minutes. When I ordered room service the order of Omelet came without promised slices of bread and walnut brownie came without Ice cream. On drawing attention they inform that menu choices have changed and they no longer provide it.Room service person did not come to pick up used plates inspite of promised and they remained in room till check out. Have a decent spread of breakfast. Front desk is little slow.

Condition of room is pathetic, smelling half of the lights were not working, toilet exhaust was not working, wash basin was choking, AC adjuster was broken van not adjust AC. Food quality very bad. ordered Mutton and it was not cooked properly. Price is extra ordinary high but quality is very very poor.

Convenient and easy
Enjoyed the stay at Royal Sarovar. The hotel is conveniently located and if you do not want to go into the heavy traffic of the city it’s great. The room was clean and comfortable. There’s a swimming pool on premises but I did not see a gym. Staff were polite and helpful. Overall, it was a good stay. Left early in the morning so did not get a chance to check the breakfast.

Hotel Royal Sarovar Portico
It was an amazing experience to stay at this hotel. The hotel is exceptionally good and very maintained. The restaurant is very good and with swimming pool view. The food is very tasty and staff is highly courteous. Rooms are well decorated and maintained. Overall, it was a very good stay.

Great after a long trip
We'd used Sarovar in Palampur and while the Royal in Siliguri wasn't quite up to that very high standard it was still very good. We'd highly recommend it for those arriving at Bagdogra after a long journey. We'd completed 36 hours with a sleep on a plane. But after 14 hours in this hotel, including a great nights sleep, we were ready to get underway. We took buffet dinner and breakfast and both were interesting and filling. Service was great from all departments. Arranging onward travel to Darjeeling from the front desk was efficient and actioned with a smile.

NICE HOTEL, BAD SERVICE
I DO NOT RECOMMEND. This place has all the ingredients to be a place I could recommend, but the hospitality service is far from coordinated and hospitable. If you can't find a better place to go, come here extremely patient and be ready to be demanding, and follow-up every single task you need accomplished by the staff. Classic trying hotel, with lack of competition in a dumpy area. The images give you this idea that they're located in the middle of a pastoral area, but it's on busy street where you can hear every sound go by, therefore construction and design is lacking. i.e. watch out, the sinks will spray water onto you and don't think about having a full powered rainshower unless you like a flooded bathroom. The pool is "open" 8am-5pm, but it's not cleaned or setup until at least 9am - loungers, etc. There was also a private party held on the outdoor pool deck, with the music blasting so terribly that the speakers were crackling. I'm a man for the dancefloor, and I was invited to join by the revelers - but I prize my hearing. I can sleep through anything, but we were staying at the front of the hotel and could hear it pounding after midnight. This is important to note, because there is only the indoor lounge to hang out at on this property other than the pool area. The restaurant on site serves good food, buffet 730-1000rps (overpriced), but the wait staff are great at making you wait. And there were only four tables occupied. Fantastic hotel with the best pool in Siliguri
The room was clean and very comfortable although there was no hot water in the afternoon. Had the pool all to ourselves and very pleasant garden. Food was excellent and staff very helpfull.

About 30 minutes north of Siliguri
This is one of the more upscale hotels I've stayed at in Siliguri. Like many others in the region, it looks great at first, but the closer one gets, the more the flaws appear. I've stayed at this place on 3 different occasions over two years. Certain aspects of the interior are showing age, despite the fact that this is a relatively new construction. The atrium, for instance, is much better seen from below — looking down from the balcony, one can see that the ledges are filthy, the paint is peeling and the overall fit and finish is poor. Also, the glass elevator designed to give guests a panoramic view of the hotel's interior is inoperable. The breakfast buffet is good, but at lunch and dinner, the restaurant is routinely out of most of the dishes I'm interested in ordering. And we're not talking cheeseburgers, we're talking bog standard Indian fare. On a positive note, relatively fast wifi is now available in guest rooms. That makes a huge difference in productivity, and it's better implemented than most other hotels in the area. The rooms are clean and well-appointed, and the staff is helpful and friendly. The hotel is a little out of the city proper, which may be nice if you're just passing through to Sikkim or the Darjeeling hills. In summary, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. For what it is and for the price it's just fine.

Rooms are good....location average, service poor and value for money pathetic. But in a place like Siliguri, you don't get many certified and rated hotels. To be on a safer side and not take chances, a good place for first time travelers.

Ideal stop over after long flights from UK. Clean tidy hotel, very new over last few years, still developing but you would not know, we only wanted one night after a long journey and it was fine, swimming pool and dining round pool at weekends while we were there, but overall for a night or two after flying into Bagdogra, fine.

- We checked in and went to the coffee shop and the AC was not switched on so it was very stuffy - we asked them to turn it on but they said its not working nor can they open the door. - We checked in at 6 and had to leave the hotel at 0530 the next morning for a flight, they lost our luggage on way to the room and at 2230 realized that they had put it into the cupboard of one room. - They have a so called business center but no color printer where they charge like a fiver star for a night. - They lost the luggage and the concierge had the audacity to tell me if we dont find it in the two rooms we are looking for he can do anything. The manager wouldnt turn up until I threatened to call the police as they had lost my luggage. It was a pathetic experience and no apologies for all the goof ups. I will never stay in a Sarovar again.

Bad location but great service
The hotel is located in a part of town with not much to do or see, though we really used this as a home base while we explored Darjeeling and to recoup from our travels to Calcutta. The hotel was clean but seemed a litle outdated and closed in some sections. The bar and restaurant on the second floor were closed, and the pool was not filled. Otherwise the room was clean and quiet, staff was extremely friendly and useful, and the restaurant was pretty good (though service was typically slow- like typical India). Would highly recommend for more Western amenities in this area.

Själva rummen var det inget fel på, vilket vi var nöjda med. Det som gjorde oss besvikna var utcheckningen. Vi hade planerat att i god tid komma fram till tågstationen för att kunna ta vårt bokade tåg men till att börja med drog personalen ut på tiden så pass att det plötsligt började bli stressigt. Personalen verkade inte veta hur man skötte de olika momenten i utcheckningen och dessutom fungerade inte betalmaskinen för kreditkort. När vi väl var klara och skulle ta hotellets taxi hann vi inte komma längre än 500 meter innan chauffören fick "soppatorsk". Hann lyckades köra på sista droppen till en kamrat för att fylla på bensin. Med nöd och näppe hann vi med tåget.

This hotel was excellent and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Compared to many other hotels we've stayed in in India, this is one of the best. It actually offered what it said it would offer, and even more - many a times the hotel seems nice enough in internet, but when you get there, it's a totally different story. Not here. And the price was very reasonable in comparison to what we got for that money! A lot of nice details - morning paper delivered to the room, a nice box of cookies handed at the check-out etc etc. We can highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
