Great Quality Hotel for Location

Marco Polo is objectively the nicest (and most expensive) place to stay in Davao city. In general, it's lovely with substantial security, pleasant staff, comfortable accommodations, and well-kept facilities. That being said, it feels a tad run-down: some of the fixtures in the rooms (lights/outlets) are a bit finicky and the furniture feels a bit worn with age. On the whole, it lives up to expectation and stands among many western 4-star hotels in terms of the experience. If you are staying in Davao and looking for a comparatively luxurious experience, this is likely the place for you. One final note though: you may want to consider a slightly cheaper option like the Radisson or something--it isn't terribly inferior to Marco Polo and is more cost-effective.

Hotel staff were very accommodating. Security into the building was appropriate given the area and the history of the building.

Davao Vacation 4 nites

Pros: fantastic Olympic size pool (wish it was a bit deeper --- deepest end is 5') Hotel staff is excellent (well mannered/trained and accommodating).
Cons: Annoying security check every time enter the hotel. Avoid RM 1116 - drainage problem, but fantastic view of the city and the bay.
Location: Croc/butterfly sanctuary. SM Lanang Mall
Over all, Hotel met my expectations with a few nuisances --- water drainage problem in our room (both the washing basin) and the bath tub. Hotel tried to resolve the issue several times to no avail, offered a room change on our last night, but declined --- didn't feel like to move for just one day. Hi lites --- fantastic Olympic size pool (wish it was a bit deeper --- deepest end is 5') Low lites --- annoying security check every time enter the hotel.

8/20-27/2017 Stay

I always stay with this hotel for several years now. It is pricey but I like a little bit of luxury. The room and staff are nice and at night there is someone playing the piano until 10 pm. A nice way to unwind.i got bitten by some insect inside the room and I requested the to spray it and I didn't have the problem anymore. I would have like a business room within view at the lobby. Since I don't see it, I haven't used it. And maybe a little reduction on their breakfast buffet price.

Previous and New review of the hotel

Pros: The setting, the cleanliness with the exception of the cockroach, and the staffs.
Cons: Remodel the bathrooms and rid of the pests.
Location: It is in their commercial area, and so there are malls nearby, museum, and restaurants.
I submitted a review for this hotel but just realized that the review I gave is not for this hotel but for the Isabella one. Please disregard that review that I made for this hotel it was a mistake. The most memorable one for Marco Polo Hotel was cockroach. There was cockroach in the bathroom of room we stayed at. I mentioned it to the Front Desk staff upon checking out but all I got was "sorry about that". But other than that all other services and staffs were great! If will have the chance to stay in Davao again, I will go back to Marco Polo Hotel, but I hope by then there will not be any cockroach lurking around.

Should cost less

Pros: The staff are accommodating.
Cons: The hotel needs renovation.
Location: The location is in a residential neighborhood, the closest place to get food is a 7-11. There is nothing to do nearby.
The staff were very helpful, but the hotel itself is a disappointment. It is a 2 star rather than a 3 star. Hallway smelled like a smoking area. Room is too cold. There is no control for the air conditioning. Beds are not standard beds, but foams. The location is in a residential area away from the nightlife and restaurants.

Extremely disappointed

First time back in The Philippines after 29 years. I made sure months ahead of time to book the right hotels for me and my family. Check in was late after being told by several Front desk agents my room would be ready. Laundry service was ridiculously overcharged. Security pat downs were violating and uncomfortable for my wife and kids. Didn't like the odor and smell of wet carpet in every floor. Only pleasant person I encountered was Arnel in the Front desk. Made me feel like an actual guest and not just another check in. Thank u Arnel for your hospitality and professionalism. -Rowell Dizon NYC, NY

best hotel in davao

Pros: everything
Location: near the night market
no wonder the president of the philippines likes to stay here and do his meeting at this hotel the buffet was really good the room condition is impeccable the cleanliness of surroundings the security very tight but they are very respectful this hotel is better than seda bisaya hospitality as its best
