Bullock Hotel; Deadwood SD

Posted Oct 20, 2014
Pros: The Old West decor was great to experience. The Bullock was very clean with pleasant staff.
Cons: N/A
Location: The location of the Bullock is in the heart of downtown Deadwood. Drive Spearfish Gorge.
Stayed two nights in mid-October. Walked the main street area and was greeted by accommodating and friendly staff anywhere visited.

in the heart of Deadwood

Posted Oct 5, 2014
Pros: Charm
Cons: Internet, bar service was extremely slow. Fresh cup of real brewed coffee in the morning would have been nice instead of just the in room kind.
Location: Great little town for couples or groups. Not a family attraction which is why we had to go back this time without the kids.
Internet was horrible!!!! Other than that, the hotel was decent. Great location and charm.

Timing is everything....choose wisely

Posted Sep 21, 2014
Pros: Congratulations on maintaining historical architectural/design detail and allowing for basic 21st century comforts (great shower!)
Location: Go to the cemetery! Great view of Deadwood from that location -interesting location as well!
The Bullock is a beautiful monument to Deadwood's colourful history. Restoration was successfully completed to maintain overall "feel" of the building, while allowing for some of the basic requirements of today's tourist. Where timing comes in: we booked our trip for early September, after the summer rush. Consequently, Bully's Restaurant, located in the hotel, was not open. Seemed the summer staff had left for the season, and they did not have kitchen or serving resources to open for business. If the idea of a bustling Bullock and downtown Deadwood is what you are seeking, be sure to book during peak tourist season. Empty casinos and closed restaurants made it easy to manoeuvre, but felt, well....empty.

Quieter end of Deadwood so a lovely experience

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: The cleanliness of the rooms and the efficiency of the housekeeping staff - nothing was too much trouble for them - also breakfast staff were brill
Cons: Reception staff attitude - most of the time they really couldn't be bothered - or at least thats the impression they gave
Location: Experience Deadwood life and the surrounding area - scenery to die for and Mount Rushmore was within easy driving distance
The hotel, whilst very clean and comfortable, is in need of some redecoration. Whilst we were there the restaurant was being re-modelled and therefore the facilities for eating there were very basic. Having said that the breakfast was excellent! The cleaning team were amazing, but that did not apply to the reception staff! Whilst not overly rude , they were certainly not overly welcome either!

Pros: The Hotel does not look appealing from the car park at the rear but is amazing inside and situated right in the middle of Main Street.
Location: Eat at the Social Club above the Number 10 Saloon, Food amazing and great value!
We stayed here while on a trip from Rapid City to Seattle. Very close to Mount Rushmore which we visited on the way from Rapid City airport. The Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Great location

Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: Location. We were able to park the car, and walk where ever we wanted to go in Deadwood. Staff was very nice and helpful.
Cons: No ice machine available. Had to get ice from the front desk.
Location: Deadwood is full of casinos, restaurants, bars, etc. We enjoy the Crow Peek brewery in Spearfish, which is only a short 30 minute drive.
We stayed at the Bullock over President's Day weekend, from Friday until Monday. We chose the Bullock because of it's downtown location, as well as the price. My boyfriend and I stayed in a standard, one bed room. The room was small, but clean and served it's purpose. We were only in the room for sleeping, showering, and getting ready to move on to the next place. The hotel is a historic hotel, so was decorated as so. We thought that was charming and liked the novelty of it all. We did not make it to the restaurant, however there is one available for breakfast and lunch.
