Always a pleasure staying at the Obester in Debrecen. Friendly staff, nice rooms (nothing fancy). Very nice breakfast and great value for money, It's a short walk from the town's main square and has free parking. I have stayed here 4 times over the past 6 years.

Stay away from this hotel, if possible!
Even for Eastern European standards this hotel is a disappointment. We booked the biggest room available. During check in, we were told that the kitchen were still open for at least 30 minutes. Arriving at the room it wasnt clean and ready. Back to the reception we were told that no futher rooms in this catagory were available. We were then given a standard room, fair enough, this can happen. Sadly the standard room was not that clean either, especially the bathroom was dirty. Heading down to the restaurent we were told that the restaurent were closed and that the chef had left the building. The reason being that he had worked a lot due to a group of people visiting the restaurent that evening. The hotel is located at a main street, lots of traffic, outside the city center and in an area you dont want to work around in. Conclusion. Find a better hotel, this is nowhere close to be a 4 star hotel.

The property was beautiful. The breakfast was just ok. The room had the heat to 26 degrees C, and the four to the patio was letting in -5 C air. It was comfortable, but sometimes it got too hot in the room or too cold. I recommend the hotel. The service and location more than made up for the room temperature.

The room was fine, but loos dors on cabins. Shower needed to be repaired. The doors was halfway defect..

3 miserable nights at Hotel Óbester
We booked 4 rooms for 5 nights, air condition was not working in nither of them during hot and humid weather- we were told twice that technician will fix the next day - that never happened. In one of the rooms the TV set did not work, following the report, the TV was taken and never brought back. we had no choice but to check out and move to another hotel after 3 miserable nights of not sleeping due to high temp and humidity. ---- and TV issue

Loved the artwork! Great hotel. I had a balcony overlooking the terrace, it was beautiful! Could have had better AC but that is not a big deal. Would stay again!

Noisy hotel
Stayed 4 nights here, hotel isn't bad on a main road with a tram line out side and 3 or 4 bars within 100 yards, I was in a room on the front of hotel on the 3rd floor and it was very noisy, the noise from the bars went on until early hours and the noise from the trams was deafening, the room was dated but comfortable, the breakfast was tasty but very little selection, the staff were great though very friendly and helpful

Nice hotel in Debrecen
Debrecen, Hungary’s second largest city, is off the beaten track, but well worth visiting. This hotel serves Debrecen very nicely. The three largest draws are the city center, the University of Debrecen, and the Big Forest park (Nagyerdei). The hotel is conveniently located among the three and walkable to all. There is also a tram connecting them with a tram stop in front of the hotel. The hotel itself is very clean and comfortable, with a pleasant and competent staff.

Beautiful center Debrecen Hotel.
Superior place, everything is beautiful and gracious. Room stayed so warm that we had to leave the window open in the early spring nighttime . Other than that , it’s a great place. Food was a great batch of options, so most tastes would be very satisfied .

Most of the staff at the hotel didn't understand english. We asked for an extra pillow. They gave us one in a terrible condition, and told us that they don't have more pillows.(this was the last available pillow in the hotel). Very poor breakfast. The location of the hotel is nice...just 10 minutes walk from the Forum Shopping mall, 5 minutes walk from the Plaza Shopping mall. There is an escape room just 1 minute from the hotel.

OK room and very comfy bed but it’s right on a big main road with trams so if you are unfortunate enough to get a front room the traffic noise can be pretty bad specially the trams.

Great value for money
Obester is located close to the city center and very close to a tram station. It offers a very satisfactory breakfast between 7-10 am, and has a resturant operating at the evening. rooms are cosy, clean and warm, even with degrees beneeth the zero outside. The staff is accomodating and their english is OK. Stayed there for the second time and will probably come back again.

The sheets had holes in it, the AC was broken, the receptionists seemed to be all entry-levels (but definitely friendly). The breakfast was dry, but their general restaurant food is good.

Pretty Disgusting
I found the hotel to be of a low standard. One day my room wasn't touched at all. The rest of the time the standard of cleanliness was appauling. Behind the bedside cabinet, of which there was only one, I found an opened condom and under the bed there was an empty bottle of whisky. One of the shelves was thick with dust. There were only 2 power points, the bathroom was dark and aprt from towels being changed, the bathroom was not cleaned. The meals in the evening were nice, but the breakfast was cold as they didn't leave eggs, bacon etc in a warm container. Overall I would give this hotel a miss if I was you.

The room is small. My booking was for double room but was given single room because hotel was over booked. Check in was excellent but breakfast is below par and staff not helpful at all. One of them was really rude especially to English speakers like me. I asked for milk but was brought when we were completing our breakfast. When I reminded him he responded very loudly that I should wait, when actually we wanted the milk for the cereal. For the price, it is maybe worth it.

Beautiful Hotel not far away from Railway Station.
Look of the Hotel is mix of Modern with Old fashion details.... I love it. Staff helpful nothing to much trouble. Reception open 24h what is really helpful, especially when your flight is delayed, and you coming to check in around 2am. Check in fast and easy. If I will have chance to come back to Debrecen for sure I would like to stay in the same hotel....

Nice little hotel in Debrecen
This is the third time I've stayed at the Hotel Obester, and I'll stay again. It's a very comfortable place that is convenient to both the city center and the University of Debrecen. If walking is not an option, the hotel is on the major tram line.
