Disappointing La Quinta

When I book the hotel I thought it look nice even though it's far from other places. I didn't really care. The hotel staff was excellent and friendly but I did not expect the uncleanliness of the room from la Quinta because I have stayed at one of its branches before. On the first day I saw a roach crawling on the wall and on the second or third night a different roach was crawling on my suitcase luckily it was closed. The room was supposed to be non smoking however I found a cigarette bud on the side of the bed. The cigarette bud was hidden by the blanket and the bathroom was not clean properly because there was dirt behind the bathroom door. The complimentary breakfast was not great.

A get away

Pros: The staff was friendly, help and accomodating.
Cons: The setup of the breakfast area and the space made available for seating
Location: This area is sort of quiet with light Home Depot traffic because they share the same entrance otherwise is is close to US-1 and within driving distanc
Upon arriving at the hotel portion of the front area was tappered off and we were greeted very kindly by the front desk receptionist explaining the conditions and that additionally the television was not working but presently being repaired and we can have an option to check in at another hotel. This I think was very nice because she could have just allowed us to check in and not say anything. We opt to remain, by the time we entered the room the television was operational. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were unable to utilize any of the facilities, I did spend about 30mins in the gym. This area is sort of quiet with light Home Depot traffic because they share the same entrance otherwise is is close to US-1 and within driving distance to shopping area. Eating facilites are within 15 to 30 mins drive like Crackle Barrel, Walmart is within 10mins as well as Banking facilities. I needed to go to two separate banks which I was able to locate in the immediate area. I would recommend staying here and would stay here again if needed. The only fault I found was the breakfast area, it is a bit crammed up and the setup is not layed out properly.

First room had a heavy dog smell Asked to change - 2nd rm smelled of cigarettes! Lavatory very slow to drain. No coffee cups with lifs at front desk.

I was required to provide a credit card for a $75

Location: fine
Not good. I was required to provide a credit card for a $75 for a 2-10 day hold because I booked through Expedia. I was never informed of this until check in. Not happy

Everything was good. The staff wasn't very friendly and welcoming but overall everything was clean. For the price I was really impressed. Was a bit irritated because someone left their dog in the room and it was nonstop barking....the hotel said they were dealing with it but it barked nonstop for many more hours and through the night. That was the biggest disappointment.

Hotel was old and room smelled damp. Cleaning service never cleaned our room or replaced the towels.

Family visit

Pros: Quiet area. Easy access to Interstate and main road. Very close to Tri-Rail/Amtrack station. Room was spotless. Staff was great. Night watchman.
Cons: Mattress needs replaced, like a marshmallow. Coffee was terrible, need a different brand. A/C unit was a little noisy. Alarm clock radio needs replace
Location: I-95/Hillsboro in Deerfield Beach, 1/2 hour drive to FLL airport, straight shot to the beach. Charm City Burgers on Hillsboro Rocks!
Since I was in Florida to primarily visit with family, I was not actually at the hotel for very long periods of time. I was only at the hotel long enough to sleep, bathe, and change clothes. I did not have time to enjoy the amenities, but the pool, pool area, and the fitness room did look very clean. The breakfast was on par with other breakfasts that I have had at other hotels. It did not totally blow me away, but it didn't stink either. They really do need to change their coffee brand or coffee supplier. I may be a bit of a coffee snob, but the breakfast, lobby and room coffee was weak. There is really not much within walking distance of this hotel except for the corner gas station and the "big box" hardware store next door. There is currently construction going on between the front of the hotel and Hillsboro, and across 12th Street behind the gas station, so that may change soon. As far as driving, since you are right on the Broward/Palm Beach County line, you are within a 1/2 hour drive of EVERYTHING from Fort Lauderdale to West Palm Beach. If you have a lot of places to go, this hotel is very centrally located with easy access to I-95. The hotel staff was excellent! Very friendly and helpful. My room was spotless every day, even changed the sheets every day. I was impressed enough to tip the maid daily. My only big complaint, other than the coffee, was the condition of my mattress. I knew as soon as I sat down on it that it had been there a while. It was a marshmallow.
