Poor Location

Posted Jul 15, 2017
Pros: was quiet but the air conditioning in the rooms extremely loud you could hear both rooms on either side, I put my head on the pillow & it Was vibratin
Cons: The breakfast! The staff recognising a guests birthday! Complimentary bottled water in the room.
Location: location was poor, walked for miles, very residential, nothing but 2 small areas of shops, maybe 20 in each section. Rented a car to due to boredom!
The photograph of the hotel is not a true reflection, I had to check the name to see if it was the right place. It's very quiet if that's what your looking for. We arrived early, so room was not ready, would have been nice if a complimentary drink was offered whilst waiting, after travelling a very long trip from the UK. We were also celebrating my friends birthday, again, no attempt or congratulations from the hotel, I've stayed at hotels were by they provide a complimentary drink/ dinner, but nothing here! Disappointed for a Hilton. Bottled water in the room extortionate $8, again, stayed in other 4*hotels were you get a complimentary one in the room. free water jugs in the lobby only. BREAKFAST was the same items every day. Choice of 2 bagels, & pastries wrapped in cling film, they were rock hard, clearly not fresh, I asked for a fresh one & was told "that's all they have" poor choice of cereals, Kellogs mini boxes, you have to open 6 of them for a decent bowl, there's nothing in them. Toaster extremely slow, had to ask for herbal tea & was given Earl grey! choices not readily available. cold breakfast $16, hot breakfast $20, not worth it, better off going to Denny's behind the hotel. Not sure why they have a concierge, she just googled every question I asked her & then read me the answer! Would not stay here again, the area is boring, nothing to see or do within walking distance, ended up renting a car to go further out. The only thing local was the San Diego county fair

Beautiful property, comfortable rooms

Posted Jul 3, 2017
This is a beautiful property with lovely amenities and comfortable rooms. The staff was also very professional and helpful, most notably Elva in the dining room who anticipated our every need with grace and charm. My only criticism is that I specifically reserved a handicap accessible room because of my mobility issues and need for grab bars in the bathroom. The problem was that our room was at the very end of a long, twisting and turning hallway which will prove difficult for someone who has trouble walking. A more centrally located room would have saved me from a long and painful walk.

So convenient to Del Mar Fairgrounds.

Posted Jun 28, 2017
Pros: Location
Location: Fairgrounds and horse racing is within walking distance.
King room was updated, nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Dinner in the lounge was really delicious and service was very good. We attended a concert at the fairgrounds without worrying about the traffic.

Close to fair grounds

Posted Jun 26, 2017
Great location if you attending the Del Mar Fair. Literally across the street and walkable. The hotel rooms were clean comfortable, it also boasted a heated pool which was nice during the June Gloom. The food and cocktails were also great at the hotels coastal grill.

Older hotel that desperately needs room renovation

Posted Jun 13, 2017
Pros: The staff we encountered were all very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Update the rooms. Lower the parking fees of $22 per day. That was a really surprising turn off. I have no idea why you have to pay to park here!?!
Location: Don't book this hotel while the fair is town. The traffic is terrible.
The hotel is an older one. While the lobby, bar and restaurant have been remodeled and are updated, the hotel rooms have not. The could stand to be gutted and redone as they look old and aged. The pool area was also old and aged looking.

Thank you for staying with us and providing feedback. Our rooms were completely updated in 2013. I apologize that you found the rooms not up to date. Was there anything in particular? Our public space and restaurant were just recently completed. Thank you again for your feedback and business. We greatly appreciate both.

Decieving

Posted May 30, 2017
The pictures are deceiving, the room was musty smelling and the toilets had black stains. I felt nasty being in the room.

The hotel is shaped like a "U". Parking is in the back and hotel is accessible on the sides other than the front lobby. However, there is only one elevator, which is by the lobby. We were on the 3rd floor and in the back. Which made it nice and quiet. However between checking in and out, carrying out luggages, going in and out of the hotel, and taking the steps --I really wished there was an elevator at the far end of the hotel. The rooms are clean and quiet. What isn't quiet, however, are the air conditioners. The hotel, although nice and clean, and renovated, you could tell it was older, hence the old AC. It also didn't leave the room cool, it felt more like a fan than an AC. It got really hot at one point for us during the night so we had to turn down the temp to cool the room and that loud AC was on longer and more frequent. I wasn't too terrible but bothersome enough that if you're a light sleeper it could affect your sleep. Be warned!

Hi There, Thanks for sharing your feedback with us. You are correct our building is set up in the shape of a U. We have elevators on both ends of the U for guest use. There is a portion of the building that is a bit of a farther walk. As for the AC, I would love to have this repaired but since your review was left as anonymous, I have not method of identifying the room number. Thank again greatly for staying with us. I hope you will visit us again soon.
