Needs renovation

Pros: Located in the heart of the San Luis Valley, it has incredible views.
Cons: The whole place needs to be done over. They have been running it for 17 years and it hasn't been upgraded since they opened.
Location: Stunning area, 1/2 hour drive from The Great Sand Dunes, The Scenic Rio Grande Railway and several national forests.
We felt like we were staying at our granparents' house; our host was friendly but everything in our room was a bit musty, the bed was lumpy and a bit saggy, there was not enough hot water to even use the whirlpool bathtub, and the breakfast was composed of canned and frozen ingredients, which we had to eat under our kindly hosts eye. This included having to down the absolute worst coffee ever!

Pros: It was close to the wildlife refuge. Comfortable at an affordable price. Mark fixed great home-style breakfasts.
Cons: The shower didn't really work right. The TV should be updated. Although the place is up for sale so the owners may not want to do anymore.
Location: I went there for the Sand Hill Crane festival. But the Sand Dunes are close by as well as the mountains and several ski areas.
Mark and Judy were very hospitable and friendly. Very helpful in suggesting places to eat and other activities.

Caretakers, Mark & Judy were excellent hosts. Room was clean and well appointed. Breakfast of eggs, juice, toast & coffee was well presented and a great way to start the day. Can't forget their dog Hazel!

Pros: all
Cons: bathroom needs up-dating.
Location: Small town nearby with some restaurants. Three Barrel Brewery is the town favorite; we luckily found it by accident.
"Texas hospitality in Colorado." McIntosh Room is cozy but sleeps four. A delicious and sweet homemade breakfast by our very friendly and knowledgeable host.

Pros: Nice location where it is build and a lot picturesque mountain scenery to look at. Would recommend to any one traveling through Del Norte, Colorado,
Cons: I can not think of any thing that was bad or need improvement at this time. The building structural is well constructed and save to stay in.
Location: Del Norte, Colorado has a good varieties of things to do, I can make big list that if a family or a person traveling through wouldn't get bored.
I grew up in Del Norte, Colorado and was looking for a place to stay on a week-in get away. It happen that the small town of Del Norte was celebrating their Cover Wagon Old West Day. Thinking that the town did not have a nice comfortable Hotel to rent for the time I was there. I came across on the Internet of a Bread and Breakfast west of town on15081 West Highway 160, Del Norte, Co. 81132 highway marker west 201. Room rate are great and affordable price at time that I stayed there. Excellent!!!

A homely B&B

Pros: Friendly and homely atmosphere.
Location: Quiet location on the outskirts of town, overlooking fields.
SmalL B&B run by the owners, a very friendly husband and wife team in quiet, peaceful surroundings on the outskirts of town. It was very nicely decorated and furnished, very homely. The Granny Smith Suite consisted of a bedroom with a separate, private bathroom. The owner recommended a good restaurant that the locals use and cooked us a hot breakfast inthe morning. WiFi was good and the room rates were extremely reasonable.

Relaxation At Its Finest

Pros: We stayed in the Red Delicious room which has it's own jacuzzi and deck. The king size bed was very comfortable even for someone with a bad lower back
Cons: NOTHING!!!!!
Location: Talk to Mark about things to do, there is too many to list. But definitely head over to the Sand Dunes and Zapata Falls, you won't regret it.
I came down to the San Louis Valley to take my comps for my Master's Degree. It was a very stressful time but the minute you walk through the doors of the AppleLodge you know you are in for a very peaceful and pleasant stay. I was able to relax and unwind after a very stressful test. The owners, Mark and Judy were kind and gracious hosts and Mark's cooking is impeccable. The setting is very nice in the middle of the San Louis Valley with mountains all around. You are very close to the Rio Grande so if you like to fish, you are within walking distance or you can drive up and down it or go to the various lakes close by. Talk to Mark and he can give you a wealth of information about the fishing or anything else in the area. For me, the greatest thing was the calm peaceful ambiance of the home which made our mini vacation perfect.
