Disappointed at first

We were booked in the Tammerind Room. At first glance, it was lovely. But soon found the AC and the shower were broken. Not good. After several calls, front desk did not come through on promises to fix. We asked for a different room and, on that, they did come through with a new, working room---an upgrade, at that. Gotta say the hotel did not seem in as good overall shape as when we stayed there two years ago. Their unique pool is now closed and its formally clear waters now downright dirty.

Dreamy!

The Sundy House was amazing! We will definitely be going back! The service was great, the location was in perfect proximity to a great restaurant scene, and the garden was romantic, relaxing, and beautiful. Highly recommend!

Nice hotel conveniently located near everything

Great getaway that I needed! Everything was lovely except some unfriendly people in the restaurant and valet parking. They were rather rude. The front desk staff were very friendly and cordial. The bartender who served us greeted us with a warm smile and friendly casual conversation. I would lodge at the hotel again but not eat at the restaurant.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Sundy House years ago when it was managed by the former owner. Returning this time was a disappointment. The property has deteriorated and lots of differed maintenance was obvious. I should have been forwarded when I made numerous phone call to the hotel prior to arrival to discussed our reservation. No one ever answered the phone or returned any of my calls. upon arrival there was no cordial welcome and there didn't appear to be any senior manager in charge. As it turns out, I believe we were the only overnight guests...that certainly indicates a problem. I was told the restaurant was under separate management and we did have an enjoyable dinner. I would recommend the restaurant which seems popular but avoid the hotel.

Never again

Booked 2 rooms. Both had dirty floors after walking in room had to wipe off feet before getting in bed. One room had extremely damp sheets but we were so tired tried to just get thru the nite. We were told Sunday nite the restaurant/bar was closed Monday. Very nice bartender Kelly! Didn't realize that meant entire place was closed til we tried to change rooms and there was No One there but the 4 of us. Seriously not a person til a security guy finally answered front desk phone at 9pm and couldn't help us with room change (smelled moldy).

Beautiful grounds

Pros: The cottage we stayed in had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen with dishwasher, and a washer and dryer. One couldn't ask for more.
Cons: Second bedroom could use drawers or shelves for your clothes.
Location: About a 2 short blocks to Atlantic Avenue where there are many restaurants and shopping. About 20-25 minute slow walk to the beach.
It was like being in a botanical gardens. Beautiful grounds, great location- an easy walk to the beach and close to all the action.

Perfect Getaway

My experience at the Sundy House was perfect. I enjoyed every minute from my first step out of my car. The staff is incredible, everyone went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. I stayed in the Black Bamboo Room. Loved it !! The lush gardens, waterfalls, statues and ponds were beautifully done. Close to the beach and restaurants, we never drove anywhere. We used the Downtowner Service, picked us up and dropped us off wherever we wanted to go for just a tip. I tipped everyone $5.00 every time in the hotel and in the car service. The service in the hotel was amazing. I would go back tomorrow.
