Several issues. Let's start with the room. The room temperature upon arrival was at least 85 degrees although the thermastat was set at 70 degrees. We continued to turn it down until it was comfortable. We ended up at a setting of 59 degrees. The window sounded like it was open because the outside noise could be easily heard. Turns out the window was closed but there were pieces of trim missing allowing the outside noise and cold air in. The walls apparently are poorly insulated for sound. We kept hearing the cell phone in the room next to us as it received text. It literally sounded like it was in the same room. The room on the other side, which had an adjoining door, had a man who must have been hard of hearing. His TV was very loud and we heard every phone conversation he had.
The next issue was the service. While the staff was pleasant, their skills lacked. When we checked in the front desk person charged our credit again after we had already paid through Hotels.com. I discussed with them the next morning. The same person admitted his mistake but did not tell us, we discovered it on our own. Not very professional. The second night we had new guests to the hotel try to come into our room. Fortunately we had the door lock set. During the night they rented our room to other guests, well at least they tried.
My wife and I have always enjoyed and preferred HI Express but we will not be going back to this one.
