The hotel is very centrally located and has an old world charm along with excellent accommodation. The breakfast was very good and the staff were very courteous and helpful. A great place to stay!

Visit for a wedding...Posted Aug 24, 2015 on Hotels
A little dated but in a great located, friendly staff and comfortable room. Was a great base for the wedding and even with celebrations continuing below we were not disturbed in our room at all.

Old Hall Hotel BuxtonPosted May 28, 2015 on Hotels
The food and the service in the restaurant were good although the choice was limited. The food in the wine bar was good and a wider choice but the tables were too close together. The carpets in the public areas were grubby and the net curtains throughout could have done with a wash. The room that we had was rather crowded. The toiletries in the bathroom were very nice and there was plenty of hot water and a good strength shower.

Perfectly placed.Posted May 12, 2015 on Hotels
Lovely hotel, perfectly placed as a base for exploring Buxton. The service is excellent. The age of the building is evident but not in a bad way, only very minor gripe, the mattresses on the beds in our twin room, are probably about due to be changed, as they were both lumpy. However this didn't prevent a good restful nights sleep.

Very enjoyable one night stayPosted Apr 29, 2015 on Hotels
Lovely old hotel with a fascinating past (Mary Queen of Scots having been kept under house arrest there). Centrally located in Buxton in a beautiful setting opposite the Opera House and park. The rooms were large and well equipped, the bathroom clean and spacious. Decor in our room a little tired but the bed was very comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff were all very helpful and the breakfast was absolutely delicious with ample choice of hot food and the service was excellent. We would love to stay again.

Very nice hotel in good place close to centre. Only down side with age of building and such the floors are very unpredictable easy to trip but otherwise fantastic.

One night stay for visit in BuxtonPosted Nov 20, 2014
Pros: Proximity of the hotel to the centre of Buxton.
Cons: Not having to climb up 5 stairs to the bathroom in the middle of the night - not easy when we are aged 74 and 72
Location: Interesting scenery. Superb shops. Historical.
We were checked in by very pleasant staff. After asking for our lamps in the bedroom which were not working, to be checked new light bulbs were obtained and the problem recitfied.

Great location and hotel with character.Posted Oct 30, 2014 on Hotels
Stayed overnight on a Sunday. Perfect location directly opposite opera house, pavilion & gardens. Crescent immediately behind hotel & town. Parking is outside the hotel in parking bays which are pay and display. Reception will give you a ticket which costs £3 for 24 hrs to park in bays outside the hotel. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and food was and service was very good. Hot food, polite & friendly staff. Breakfast was equally good with hot food cooked fresh and served to the table. Good choice (porridge, fish, and the usual bacon & eggs & fresh toast). Only negative is that the hotel is very old and the carpets needed a clean!
