Great Hotel for the deaf.Posted Sep 28, 2015
Cons: Needs noise abatement, Electrical Repairs and Buffet Makeover.
Location: Des Moines is a delightful town. The Bait Shop has great very casual adult dining and 100 tap beers. Great Burgers and ample outdoor seating.
For the price, I expected better. Hotel should have been 25% less, based on experience. This is a clean, but very old building. The exterior walls and window did not have any sound abatement. Freeway noise until the we hours of the night. Des Moines is a little bit of a redneck town. The people were screeching tires and revving their engines all night. In our room, the main electrical outlet and lamp did not work. had to crawl under bed to plug in cell phone and computer. Bathroom door was water damaged and falling apart. Internet very fast. Hallways clean. Other travelers quiet. Staff was always eating at the front desk - unprofessional. The Breakfast Buffett looked bad. I woke up starving, but took a pass. The "ham??" looked like a 10 year old canned ham from the David Letterman Show. Plus, no where to sit, they had half the area blocked off so there was nowhere to sit. Grabbed a cup of coffee and left. Not on main floor either, It all looked like an afterthought. Parking was good.

Great hotel close to Event CenterPosted Sep 26, 2015
We had a great stay with our two children while in town for an event at the Iowa Event Center. The location was easily accessed and within walking distance of the event center and a food and music festival on the river. We actually had an upgrade to a two bedroom suite with a kitchenette when we arrived:) The pool was just right for the kids - and a very nice hot breakfast was included! We have stayed here before and will definitely do so again!

Just right!Posted Sep 13, 2015
Came to Des Moines for a horse show and wanted a place close to the fair grounds. It's just about a couple miles away at most with several fast good options along the way. There was plenty of close parking, mt check in took off of 2 minutes, and then we were headed to our room. The hotel is clean and neat and updated. Our room was great, the hallways were wide and well lighted. We had a fridge and microwave, ironing board, nice tv, lots of pillows. I do wish the bathroom had an exhaust fan because after am showers it was very humid and made doing our hair difficult, but the bathroom was bright white and very clean at any rate... It was cheap ($107 with tax) and everything we wanted in a hotel. I am sure we will stay here again.

The hotel and room were clean and pleasant. Noise is always an issue, whenever we stay. This time I called the front desk about 8:50pm as 2 women were outside our room in the hall arguing very loudly. After about 6 minutes, someone came upstairs and told them to quiet down. Kids running in the hall yelling - young kids. We also noted again that the floor in front of the elevators on the second floor were wet Sunday morning. We had to watch carefully so we didn't slip and fall on the wet tile. That's always frustrating. We enjoy the morning breakfast. Food is always good. Location is very convenient for us.

Convenient stayPosted Aug 24, 2015
Comfortable room but food left in mini fridge smelled bad and had to call front desk to dispose of. Bathroom had damp musty smelling shower curtain and no working exhaust fan. Beds were comfortable. 3rd floor ice machine not working, had to go to 5th floor. Rooms were quiet.

We were in town for the State Fair. Your staff directed us to the shuttle and everything worked great! Room had an AMAZING view of the river and State Capital. Breakfast went until 10 and was great!

Good LocationPosted Aug 18, 2015
Pros: It was very easy to find. Right off the interstate. Parking was plentiful. Very close to Principal Park. Staff was very friendly. Check-in a breeze.
Check in was quick and hotel clerk very friendly. Room size was ok. Beds were very uncomfortable. Felt like it sagged in the middle and kind of hard. Even my teenager who can sleep anywhere tossed and turned much of the night. Bathroom doorway was very narrow and door didn't quite shut all the way. Bottom of door was a little warped and chipped. We were only there for one night and didn't spend much time in the room so for that reason it was ok. If we were spending more time there I probably wouldn't recommend it.

Only adequate -- hotel could be improvedPosted Aug 18, 2015
Pros: Abundance of breakfast options and the free coffee in the lobby were nice.
Cons: Outdated décor, larger elevators, thicker walls (to make it quieter), quieter air conditioner, sanitary and more pleasant pool area
Location: Close to the Des Moines riverwalk, Wells Fargo Arena, the Events Center and the highway
Hotel was the last one available for the weekend we came, and I can see why. The hotel is outdated -- old décor in the lobby, rooms and restaurant. Small elevators led us to a disappointing room. The pillows were uncomfortable, and the air conditioner was very noisy. The room was clean, although the walls are quite thin. We could hear the people on either side of us, as well as those in the hallway. Avoid using the pool. Dirty and cold water, the pool wasn't filled all the way, no spa/hot tub, and the pool deck was unpleasant.
