Pros: the free breakfast was GREAT!!
Cons: Kind of strange that a VERY young boy checked us out. Maybe 13 or 14 years old.
Location: stayed there and parked long term for an early morning flight at DTW
I paid for our room online with extended parking, but when we checked in there was an additional charge per day.

Cheap stay

Cons: Insulation, no smoking on the grounds
The hotel was mid century modern, just like the old Howard Johnsons. It was close to the airport, a well timed shuttle to Metro Airport and the staff were nice. But the noise level of other guest smoking outside your room, running in front of your windows in the middle of your night was ugly. It was convenient and affordable but not what I would call a destination hotel for a stay outside of the city.

Thank you for the feedback we are very sorry about the disturbances. It is a none smoking hotel so we have to advise people to smoke outside. There are always indoor access rooms available to avoid these issue!

Average Motel near Airport

Pros: Near the airport
Cons: In the motel, the room was adequate but the chair was old and dirty. Inside lock on door wouldn't work.
I arrived at 1:00 AM in the morning. Airport shuttle...long wait in cold wind and had to call twice before anyone came. Desk clerk was friendly. Room adequate. Sheets looked like they had been used. Also rip in sheet. Not enough blankets on bed. Not the best motel experience but it was ok for one night when very tired from travel.

Budget Hotel Done Right

I had an 11-hour layover in Detroit, so rather than be uncomfortable at the airport all day, I rented a room at the Howard Johnson. I paid $55, so my expectations were not high, but all I wanted was wifi and a clean, comfortable place to hang out. I got more than I expected. The lobby and public spaces are lovely, and the front desk clerk was very friendly. My room was clean and nicely decorated. There was a coffee maker, desk and fast wifi, so I was set! I even used the fitness center, which could have used an equipment update, but the treadmill worked. My room faced the main road, and there was noise, so had I been sleeping there I may have found that a bit disturbing, but overall I was very pleased with my stay.

Great place to sleep!

No bed bugs in the comfortable bed here! Helpful staff! I had a corner of the building room so only one neighbor. Only noise came from the airplanes or tv. Great evening!

Next I'll stay else where and pay more money all staff was rude acting as of they was bothered by questions I had. Never reserved room service. I asked for new sheets and towels Never received it....but it was quite and clean nice looking.

Only stay if no other option. Rundown, would compare to a Motel 6 type of,lodging.

Nice Hotel. But when we went to go to bed, there was blood on the sheets and look like they were never changed and had to wait about a half and hour for clean sheets:(. The coffee pot did not work:(. Kinda of a stressful visit
