Another great stay Downtown. Rooms are usually comfortable and kept up pretty well. But this time we had a window to the right of the bed and the curtin wouldn't close properly to keep the early morning sun out.

Fine hotel, just one issue

Posted Jul 22, 2016
Pros: Attractive lobby. the 24Grille is a good restaurant. The 23rd floor lounge was minimal but nice. Good view of the river.
Cons: Too many card reader door locks are flakey or simply fail. They all need to be replaced.
Location: Was on a business trip. Did not "do" things nearby". The hotel is in downtown Detroit. Saw only a couple of blocks. Modern buildings, clean streets.
The hotel over all is quite fine. They have a good restaurant, They have a lobby sitting area that is quite comfortable. I have only two issues. (Yeah, I know I said one, but I've thought of a second... One issue are the card key readers. They are wearing out. I had to try by TWO keys repeatedly to get them to work on pretty much every door I tried... My room door, and the elevator for guest floors access, and on the 23rd floor lounge door. I finally discovered the trick of applying upward pressure while removing the key. Then they worked reliably. Whatever. The readers apparently are old and all need to be replaced. The second issue (the one I just remembered) is the view. I hate having rooms opening out into airshafts. I'd rather have no window than to have that view. Nothing in my pre-reservation that I saw warned me that I was getting an airshaft room. Other than that, the room was fine. It was clean (of course) and it had all the amenities one expects these days. (oh, except they forgot the ice bucket. There was an ice machine down the hall, but no ice bucket. [sigh])

Fantastic Stay

Posted Jul 14, 2016
Overall great stay, in my opinion Westin is the best hotel downtown Detroit. I have stayed at several others and this was my second stay at Westin. From Valet to check out the staff makes you feel at home. The hotel is super clean, great food choices and close to everything. We were there for WWE Raw at the Joe, we were not the typical guest. All the staff took time to talk to my 5 year old son about the event and who his favorite superstar was. I want to give a big thank you to Asad in valat parking, he went above and beyond at check in and check out, super friendly, help with our bags and spoke very kindly to my son. Employees like that make me come back.... Thanks Asad and Thanks Westin.

Perfect for sightseeing - close to people mover

Great hotel, attentive staff. Right across the street from the People Mover. Had a small issue in our room but the wonderful manager fixed it right away. Starbucks in the hotel was a nice perk. The steak restaurant was REALLY good.

we were visiting for a conference and our room was beautiful not such a beautiful view ...as we only saw the brick of the building. Our bathroom was not clean. There was hair in the tub and there was a sour smell in the bathroom (maybe the shower curtain).
