Devon sojournPosted Apr 6, 2015
Pros: The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and golf course, rooms were clean and bed comfortable. Good choice of food at reasonable prices.
Cons: Reception area not very welcoming with staff not visible behind high desk. During busy periods staff were a bit flustered and disorganised
Location: Located 4 miles from Dartmouth with easy access via car ferry to Brixham, Paignton and Torquay. Plenty of boat trips available and historical places.
We booked last minute for a few days break. Booking was easy and straight forward and had the option of paying hotel directly at time of stay which enabled us to pay in cash. We were unable to charge anything to the room though due to technical problems, although this wasn't a problem for us other customers were annoyed. Staff were friendly and helpful

Wonderful winter break in DevonPosted Feb 23, 2015 on Hotels
A wonderful winter break in a beautiful Devon location just four miles from Dartmouth. The hotel and staff were better than we expected, the golf course looks wonderful but we don'r play, the pool and facilities were a bit smaller than we had hoped, but all in all we want to make a return visit look forward to it.

The hotel is situated in a great location. Although I didn't go there to play golf, I felt (and my family) very welcome. The staff is excellent, happy to help and accommodate to make your stay enjoyable. Shame I don't play golf but we made most of the indoor pool with all facilities available.

Good, quiet hotel. Friendly staff. No problem sorting out an early arrival and late checkout. Food in restaurante was good as was breakfast. Room was ok, a bit functional. Very much a golf hotel though. Pool is small, gym is fine. Have to walk through the bar to get from room to pool/spa which is a bit odd.

Excellent servicePosted Jun 19, 2014 on Hotels
This hotel is everything you want, the service from checking in to resturant and bar service to checking out was Excellent! The staff here really understand customer service! The rooms and public areas were very clean. Beds really comfortable, lovely duvets. First class Dartmouth golf and country club will definitely stay here again, maybe for leisure next time, rather than business!

Good but poor breakfast servicePosted Apr 24, 2014 on Hotels
We enjoyed our stay at the DGCC and generally most things were very good. The staff were very polite and the (newly opened) spa was good though experiencing teething problems. The biggest complain was the service at breakfast, we had to wait for a table to be ready on two occasions, we were never able to have the smoked salmon as they were out for three days straight, there was also no yogurts for our last two days, when we asked for tea and coffee the coffee came but the tea didn't, we ordered a tea and a green tea another time and the tea came but the green tea didn't. All these things in and of themselves aren't a big problem, however when they all collide it suggests to me that there is a bigger problem. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The spa facilities and gym were excellent, they just need some benches and hooks in the changing rooms to put your stuff somewhere! The room was fine, though we had two single beds pushed together you wouldn't have known from sleeping on them, very good.

Shame the facilities were non existencePosted Apr 20, 2014 on Hotels
The location is in a quiet secluded spot and the hotel rooms are clean and modern. The beds are about 7 feet wide! The Bistro staff were very attentive and friendly. The menu is restricted but breakfast very good with plenty of choice. However I wanted to treat my wife to a spa session. Even though the swimming pool gym and spa were advertised on this site and the hotels site, builders were still completing new complex which we were not notified about before booking. Disappointing as well as the noise at times.
