Hotel fairly central

Posted Jul 17, 2017
Pros: The hotel staff are friendly and efficient.
Cons: The hotel needs modernising.
Location: The location of the hotel is fairly central to all the interesting places to visit in Plymouth.
This hotel looks tired and needs updating. Reception is on the first floor. The room was disappointing, small, again needs updating, no air con just a fan light that looked unsafe when turned on. No free Wifi, surprising in this day and age. Breakfast staff were very friendly and efficient but the breakfast itself was under cooked and barely warm.

Dear Digger, Thank you for taking the time to submit a review after your recent stay with us. We sincerely appreciate your feedback but we are very disappointed to see that we clearly did not meet your expectations in some aspects. I have noted your comment on our current decor and modernity of the hotel but hope that you will stay with us again on your return to Plymouth and note our ongoing refurbishments that we are currently busy with to update our overall product. Please accept my apology for for the lapse in our usual standards of breakfast. I have addressed this with my chef and I can confidently say that this was a none-off experience that will not be repeated. I do hop that you will consider visiting us again in the future when you will surely see the vast improvements that we are making with regard to our decor and modernity of the business. Perfectly situated

We found this hotel to be clean, helpful staff and a decent sized room. Quite happy. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that but certainly no complaints.

Very tired

Posted Jun 4, 2017
This hotel is in desperate need of a refurb - the decor is very dated (70's). There isn't air conditioning in the rooms - it was 16 degree when we stayed and the room was very stuffy even with the windows open.

Dear Liz, Thank you for taking the time to submit a review after your recent stay with us. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and we will utilise it in continuing to improve our product delivery to all of our valued guests. I have taken note of your comment on our current need to refresh certain aspects of our decor and furnishings. We have recently commenced a number of replacement programs which will definitely achieve this as the year progresses. Unfortunately, this will not include the insertion of airconditioning as the building design does not allow for this. We are however replacing the current ceiling fans with a more modern version which will be more effective. We trust that you will stay with us again on your next visit to Plymouth when we hope you will experience these improvements. Kind Regards, Trevor Vels | General Manager

Happy

Posted Jun 4, 2017
Pros: Location, cleanliness and friendliness of staff.
Cons: Air Con would be nice but the room did have a ceiling fan and, another desk top fan.
Location: One minute walk and you are in the city centre - a wide variety of things to do and see in Plymouth.
The room was very comfortable and very clean and quiet. . Staff very friendly. Great location and own parking which was a bonus. convenient. Centre of Plymouth very easy to walk to as well as the Barbican area - in fact all areas of shopping and tourism close.

Obviously a nice hotel in its day.

Posted May 29, 2017
Now it needs serious remodernisation. Beds are too small, bedrooms are reasonably clean but very rough round the edges. Food was just okay but nothing to write home about.

Nothing to see

Posted May 28, 2017
Location: Nothing
We had no tv, the price went up out of our range because they had a tour in, so if you are thinking of going check first on price. There is nothing to see close by if you are just walking.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to submit a review after your recent stay with us. We sincerely appreciate your feedback but we are very disappointed to see that we clearly did not meet your expectations in some aspects. Please accept my apology for the unfortunate TV system failure that we experienced on Friday evening. We regret any frustrtaion that this may have caused as we were only able to repair it on Saturday afternoon. I would welcome you contacting me directly via the hotel when you are next visiting our city so that I can arrange a commensurate upgrade to make up for this lapse in normal standards. Pleasant and friendly hotel

Posted May 27, 2017
Pros: Comfort of the beds. Friendly staff.

We were made to feel very welcome. The room was lovely, but a little dated. Very comfortable and clean. Staff were exceptionally helpful.

Perfect base for gig at University.

Posted May 15, 2017
Bargain night away, warm & comfy, little dated decor and bathroom but all good and shower most powerful one I've ever experienced in a hotel! Good choice for breakfast and very reasonable if pre booked. Also handing with parking underneath hotel. Definitely would stay again when back for more bands in town.

Perfect office from home

Posted May 9, 2017
Pros: Location; friendly atmosphere.
Cons: Nothing, all good.
Location: Location is great for business purposes - close to station and to the University and business parts of the city. Easy walk into the City.
I stayed here on a business trip. Location was great - near the station and near the University. Room was a very reasonable size, very clean and a good space for me to get work done whilst staying. Reception desk staff were very friendly and welcoming.
