Conveniently located older hotel.

Staff were very helpful, room was clean and food (breakfast) was excellent. On the downside parking was limited and the bed was too hard.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to submit such a positive response after your recent stay with us. We sincerely appreciate your superb feedback, particularly on our helpful staff, cleanliness and breakfast. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. However, I have noted your comment on our beds. They can be perceived to be a bit on the hard side as they are very newly purchased but I am sure they will soften marginally as time progresses. We trust that you will stay with us again on your next visit to Plymouth. Kind Regards, Trevor Vels | General Manager

OK for elderly overnighters

Posted Feb 28, 2017
Pros: Location. Parking.
Cons: Disabled/elderly arrival. Carrying suitcases up steps is not good. Offereveryone advice on alternative arrival/ parking if you require level access.
Our room 135 was VERY draughty. It was a very windy day, but we had to put my travel blanket on the window cill behind the curtains to try an dminimise draught. It may be that the seals on the windows have gone. Didn't affect our stay as we literally wanted somewhere to rest our heads after going to Pavilions show - would have asked for room on opposite side of building if we had been going to spend more time in room. Haven't been there for 4-5 years probably. Our room had the decor updated since then. Blackout curtains are good. The seats looked comfortable, but we are both elderly, and they were too low for us, which woudl have been a nuisance under other circumstances. Check in was easy. We were on Expedia room only deal and bought breakfast vouchers when we checked in, which was cheaper than adding breakfast to the bill next day. Breakfast OK. Not the best by any stretch of the imagination, but fed us. I didn't have cooked - my husband and frined did. Jam etc. was a disaster - presumably to be green they don't have individual person pots or plastic tubs, There are some gadgets that you press which dollops (VERY slowly) jam, marmalade etc on to the plate for you. I understand the problem, but this is definitely NOT the answer. In addition what we got from the 'Marmalade' dispenser was probably apricot jam - no way was it marmalade. Staff all friendly. Stay again? Yes, if price advantage was tempting. Worked for us for 3 adults wanting basic stay.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your valuable feedback received after your recent stay with us. We sincerely appreciate your comments and are we delighted that overall, you enjoyed your stay with us. However, please accept my apology for any inconvenience caused by our choice of furniture in room 135 as well as any draughtiness from the windows. I will task my maintenance team with resolving any seal issues immediately. Equally, please accept my apology for your obvious frustration with our choice of jam dispensers. We employ this standard across all of our hotels in the UK as part of our corporate initiative to reduce non-recycleable waste which historically was a challenge with the individual jam containers. I am glad to see that this did not overly detract from your stay experience and that we will have the opportunity of welcoming you back for any future visits. overnight stay with daughter

Posted Feb 26, 2017
Visiting the university with my daughter, we stayed here for the night before, We were happy we got a parking space and were able to use the space for the next day during our visit. The staff very friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and the beds were comfy. We did not eat or drink at the hotel

overnight stay

Posted Feb 21, 2017
Pros: Location and friendly helpful staff
Cons: the bar area and choice of beers, and heating system to be more silent
Location: Close to shops, market and restaraunts, as well as the great Royal theatre, and the Hoe. Not far too spectacular Devon and Cornwall countryside.
well located hotel close to railway station and coach station, car parks close by. Near Drake shopping centre, other town shops and market. Close to the Royal Theatre and the Hoe. Buy your breakfast coupon from reception there it will cost £8.95, if you buy at the restaurant it will cost £11.95. Very friendly and helpful staff, the bar area is a disaster, though it has a nice selection of wines and spirits has no craft beers, or real ales only some poor quality chemical beers. note: standard rooms nice and large no air conditioning just a fan, heating can be noisy

Dear Martin, Thank you for your detailed feedback received after your recent stay with us. We sincerely appreciate your superb compliments on pouir breakfast value, location and our friendly staff. We are delighted that you clearly enjoyed your stay with us. However, please accept my apology for any disappointment with our bar offering. This is a specified range of beers as dictated by our corporate office. I can fully apprecaite that a wider range of craft beers would be ideal but our beverage menu content is designed to fit for all of our hotels in all parts of the UK. I am glad to see that based on your overall rating, this did not overly detract from your stay experience and that we will have the opportunity of welcoming you back for any future visits. Dear Guest, Thank you for your review of our hotel after your recent stay. We sincerely appreciate your kind compliments on our location and cleanliness. However, I have noted your comment on the decor of the hotel being dated. I am able to assure you that we are embarking on a significant improvement plan over the next 12 months where all aspects of the hotel's decor and facilities will be addressed. This will include the restaurant, bar, public areas and bedrooms. This will also include replacement of some of our windows where they are weathered. Naturally, this will take a fair amount of time to implement but I have no doubt that you will note the gradual improvements on any return visits. I do hope that we will have the opportunity of welcoming you back to stay with us again. Kind Regards, Trevor Vels | General Manager

Very handy for the university

Posted Jan 31, 2017
Pros: Location, pleasant, comfortable
Cons: It would be good if they had a gluten free beer in the bar
Location: Plymouth seems a nice city. I've been three times but only to visit the university so not seen much more than the uni, the city centre & the Hoe
Got a very good rate for a standard twin bed room. It had all the usual things you'd expect including comfortable beds
