Helpful friendly staff. Easy check in. Basic Menu but food very good, didn't get to try breakfast due to early check out (although offered a takeaway which was very much appreciated).Would happily stay again and recommend. The only down side were the answers during the pub quiz.

Hello RobMany thanks for your review - we really appreciate it. I'm sorry that the quiz didn't come up to scratch. Sadly Wales isn't its own sovereign state yet! :-) Thanks again
Lifton Hall is a character building in a lovely village near the Devon-Cornwall border. Room was quiet and very comfortable with every possible amenity provided. Staff were very extremely friendly and obliging. Food was excellent. Free parking and good wi-fi. Highly recommended!

Nice birthday present (mine) 1 Aug.. thanks for taking the time to write a review.
Very kind of you to say so, Lifton is a great place to explore the southwest, being so close to the main A30 gets you anywhere quickly. in the sea in 30 mins! on Dartmoor in 20!Lifton Hall now has apartments to stay in, a 6 bed and a studio barn.
Very large rooms, country style with all the amenities.
Sad to hear that the owners Richard & Robert will be converting it into 2 large units for large groups within next 2 months.
Very friendly warm people.
True English breakfast and loads of genuine English village feel, this is Devon...at it's BEST!
Chose to stay here as a convenient stopover for a night travelling South. Friendly staff - good beer and a nice meal - felt COVID safe as well. Have already recommended to friends and would stay again.
Easily accessible just off the A30 and near the Devon/Cornwall border, this delightful hotel is a real gem. We stayed for four nights and used their restaurant every day. The food was very good, the room was spacious and comfortable and the staff all friendly and helpful. In a location convenient for many Devon and Cornwall attractions we found this ideal for a country break with coastal villages and South West charm in easy reach.

a bit late in responding! but better late than never! very happy that you had a great time, this is what I keep telling everyone... Lifton is great to stay in as away from the coastal hoards.... and prices... but you can visit them easily and leave at the end of the day and come back to us....
Made to feel very welcome on arrival and throughout my stay. Very comfortable and spacious room. I rarely sleep well on the first night in unfamiliar surroundings but slept like a log. Delicious breakfast was the icing on the cake. Thank you.

Absolute pleasure! hope to see you again some time.
Upon arrival the hotel looks nice and easy to park. The lady here checked me in and all the staff are friendly and welcoming. On looking around the room for an iron and searching the drawers I found in plain view a pair of knickers. I went to the reception and the lady came with an iron and ironing board and removed the offending bloomers. The food was nice in the restaurant but had a hair in my meal. Unfortunately that can happen. Overall the hotel vibe was good and atmosphere ok just let down with poor cleaning and slightly dated interior.

Opps! as you say everyone has off days. Thankfully very rare. But apologies about the bloomers and hair.Sometimes I think it would be easier if a pre requisite for working in hospitality is to have all the staff have bald heads... would make life easier, however I think we may have trouble getting staff! As to the interior it is a difficult one, it is a 400 Year old plus building with a Listing, so it is difficult to change anything drastically, but we have made improvements of the years, so fingers crossed we are not so dated now...
Kept clean and tidy though there could be a bit of sprucing up in the decoration. Bed was comfortable and room for clothing etc. Needs a rail or handles on the stairs in the bedroom.
Nice room and food in the evening. Breakfast was adequate and very tasty, although perhaps more basic for choice than in other hotels, but this won’t put me off staying again.
We checked in for 3 nights (in the area for a wedding). On first night we noticed that the internal walls very thin - noise travels very easily. Our ground floor room was very close to the public toilets for the downstairs bar area - frequent noise of doors closing, toilets flushing + taps running. Eventually we did get to sleep but were woken at midnight by a group of guys in the bar next to our room and on the patio - aka outside our window. The windows are old, single pane and it was pretty noisy. Luckily they went to bed at about 1.30 and we probably got back to sleep after 2am.
The second night we got back from the wedding at 11pm and there were similar noises. Someone in the bar even started playing what sounded like a French horn - though obviously not the fault of the hotel that some guests were in a world of their own. I phoned the night time number after midnight from our room and they said they would take care of it. 15 minutes later the noise did stop.
In the morning we decided to check out early - it was highly likely we would have another very poor night sleep. When we checked out we didn’t receive any questions like “did you enjoy your stay” so I asked if it was him that I spoke to on the phone the night before. He said he thought we were at a wedding but he acknowledged that there was noise and said apologies for that.
Breakfast was decent (homemade marmalade was excellent!), staff were friendly and the room was clean (but tired).
I travelled from South Wales to Falmouth on business and wanted somewhere to stay to break the return journey. Lifton Hall proved to be ideal, reasonably close to the A30 and M5 and far enough from Falmouth to make a dent in the onward drive. Ideal as a base for exploring the local area.
I recieved a warm welcome on arrival and the room was very clean, tidy and comfortable. The atmosphere was really friendly in the bar/restaurant and the food good. I would happy to return should I be in the area again.
Wonderfully accommodating people, fabulous room. After 100 miles on the bike, the whirlpool bath was a godsend, with an early start and anothe 100 miles the next day, the well stocked breakfast tray was much appreciated.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay which was for one night. The hotel staff were very friendly, breakfast very good and the stay made a very nice ending to our week's holiday in Cornwall.
