Clean but tired hotel

Very friendly staff. House with some character. Room was clean but tired - very thin carpet, dead mattress, no net curtains and right opposite other houses. Breakfast excellent. 5 minute walk to carvery pub.

Relaxing small hotel close to Dartmoor

Posted Nov 28, 2016
Millstones country hotel is a small family run hotel that has not long since changed hands. The new owners are re-establishing the restaurant which at present only caters for functions and parties. The hotel only boasts 8 rooms so early booking is essential. The staff are efficient and friendly with nothing that is too much trouble the rooms are clean and very comfortable. I was lucky to find myself in a 4 poster bed. the hotel has a licence with a well stocked bar, weekend breakfast is served between 08:30 and 09:30, a menu sheet is filled out the night before enabling your meal to be on time. The breakfast is of excellent quality and beautifully cooked and sufficient of it. The dining room is oak paneled, their are also two comfortable lounges on in close proximity to the bar, all in all a first rate hotel.

Very hospitable

Posted Oct 30, 2016
Pros: The manager went the extra mile and then some more. Very lovely lady, really welcoming and a huge asset to the hotel.
Cons: There are areas that need some updating / basic work like the glass windows in the family room need replacing and the toilet needs updating (flush and refill is rubbish).
Location: Plenty if local takeaways. Drive down to the Hoe and see Drakes island or down to Wembury for amazing views and Rockpooling.

Not great

Posted Sep 9, 2016 on Hotels
This is a b&b, NOT a hotel. The staff are lovely, but this is very run down and it's trying to be something its not which attracts guests who are expecting something different. If they advertise it as a rustic b&b they would get guests who want this sort of accomodation and would give 5 stars across the board. Unfortunately when i booked a 'country hotel' for £80 with the profile picture they have on hotels.com I was expecting a hotel, not a shabby b&b worth 25-30 quid for a night

Just great

Posted May 31, 2016 on Hotels
A very warm welcome for us, and the dog. The rooms were spotless, big and comfortable. We had to leave early in the morning before breakfast was served but our breakfast was cooked, packed up and waiting for us when we left. Hosts were fantastic - will certainly be booking again for the next swimming meet. A great place to stay.
