Gemütliches, sauberes Hotel in toller LagePosted Aug 10, 2016

Short stay in LyntonPosted Oct 13, 2015
Pros: Old school Hotel with lots of character. Very clean but quirky.
Cons: Parking is not ideal, only paid parking available. That said Lynton is such a tiny place with tiny streets there is nothing the Hotel can do.
Location: Liked Lynton a lot, lots of scenery and character.
My girlfriend and I had a lovely stay in this Hotel. Its a real old school type hotel with lots of character and little quirks, which reflects Lynton itself really. As soon as we arrived the lady of the house Penny, invited us to have tea in the living room. We put our bags into the room and joined her downstairs. She served us some lovely Tea and Scottish Shortbread and Tunnocks Tea cakes on a lovely China set, all very retro. She was a lovely warm lady from North Scotland. That went down well as my girlfriend is Scottish and I lived there for 8 years too. We had a great chat, she gave us lots of advice then and as we needed it over the weekend. The room again was eccentric with a very short entry door but it was very comfortable with lots of character and a huge shower room. Room was spotless and very comfortable with all the mod-cons you would expect nowadays including wi-fi. The cooked breakfast we ate every morning was cooked very well using very high quality local produce. The scenery in the local area is very special. Highlights being the cliff/coastwalk from Lynton around the headland which takes you along a path on the cliffs. Very beautiful and we encountered wild goats which is pretty incredible. Overall we had a lovely stay at Waterloo. Loved the character of the place and the hosts had a lot of character too. I would very much recommend.

New owners done good!Posted Aug 22, 2015 on Hotels
I recently spent 2 nights at Waterloo House, the new owners were very welcoming; indeed it was hard to believe they had been there less than a week! Fab breakfast - didn't need to eat all day!

Perfect in every wayPosted Apr 30, 2015 on Hotels
The hosts were attentive, polite, perfect in every way. I was made to feel very welcome during my stay. The breakfast was cooked to perfection and very tasty. The room had everything I needed with the added bonus of a mini-fridge and some fresh milk inside for my tea. Far better than plastic milk which you get in other places. A nice touch! The locality was quiet and my hosts were able to suggest places to go to dine out or things to do in case I'd run out of ideas. I would love to stay again next time I visit North Devon. A highly recommended hotel.
