About this property

Tusen Takk: Place of a Thousand Thanks!

Romantic vacation home in Potosi
Tusen Takk was designed and built by architect Roald Gunderson from Whole Tree Architecture and Structure. Whole Tree was featured in the New York Times! The cabin is a green home with uncompromising beauty and energy efficiency. It has a prefabricated round-timber frame and pallet-wall system. The living/dining/kitchen area has a 14’ high ceiling, with dramatic branching timber columns and beams. White oak slab tables and counters add timeless beauty. The custom red oak stairs and railing with buckthorn stiles flows up to the bedroom/loft. The house’s gently curving roof opens up to the south to maximize winter solar heat. Tusen Takk has one bedroom & a loft with beds for 4 - 6 adults (queen bed, queen sofa bed, full size bed and a twin size futon). There is a fully furnished kitchen, laundry (washer/dryer), shower, and wood stove fireplace to keep you well feed, clean and warm! The open design makes heating very easy, with in-floor heating and the wood stove you will be nice and warm. During the summer months there is a window air-conditioning unit that helps keep it cool and comfortable. For entertainment there is a book & DVD library, board games, TV (no cable) and wireless internet. Venturing outside? Enjoy the fire pit, covered porch area, or explore one of the several maintained trails. Prefer to stay in? The 21 windows bringing light and the beauty of the outdoors inside. I hope you will be able to find the time to enjoy this place as much as I do! Tusen Takk was designed and built by architect Roald Gunderson from Whole Tree Architecture and Structure. 4/5 Good

    Fun Getaway

I stayed here with my family and really enjoyed it. The view was amazing. My only reason for 4 stars is it only had one window air conditioner unit that could not keep up. The house never got below 79. Otherwise, a great time and neat place.

    5/5 Excellent

      Slice of Heaven

The perfect spot to spend some QT with family in nature - would love to come back for more!

      4/5 Good

Beautiful place, lovely scenery. Hard to keep warm using woodburning stove due to windows

loved this house and would stay again except for how cold it was inside, despite attempts at keeping woodstove going. It would help if wood was split in advance for the guests.

        5/5 Excellent

Gorgeous, relaxing, private, and unique. Such a gem!

My husband and I stayed here and immediately felt peaceful and at home. We really loved every aspect of this beautiful space and the nature surrounding it. We hiked both nearby trails and enjoyed it immensely. Mostly, though, we enjoyed the relaxation and rejuvenation that we experienced in this little slice of heaven. Such a great experience!

          5/5 Excellent

            Amazing unique cabin

I LOVED this little cabin and I will be back. Private. Unique. Clean. Easy to access and had all the creature comforts for my getaway with a friend. Liz was quick to reply and great to work with.
