Decent hotel not far from Old Town

Posted Sep 4, 2016
Pros: Location conbined with price.
Cons: Don't like that shower is combined with bath and it is a fairly high step-over.
Location: Cathedral and Botanical gardens are both close an well worth a visit.
Rooms are pleasant, hotel is reasonably convenient to main square and for a good price.

Lovely staff, but NO opening windows!

Posted Jul 24, 2016
Pros: Staff, facilities, etc
Cons: Knock the building down and start again!
Location: Location was superb. Trams 6 and 7 go into the main town and stop at Arcadia/Capitol which is near the main train station. Hotel is close to shops.
The hotel staff (reception and cleaners) were all absolutely fabulous. The rooms are nicely decorated and daily room servicing was EXCELLENT. Coffee and tea making facilities, air conditioning, TV and lovely en suite bathroom. However, the architect of the building needs to be tried for crimes against humanity. The hotel has NO opening windows at all - not one. The only thing in this hotel that opens are the room doors and the hotel main door. So no fresh air comes into the rooms at all (it was designed this way). The air conditioning only recirculates air from within the room (heating or cooling). The fact that there are no opening windows was a MAJOR contributing factor to room comfort being disappointing. Nothing whatsoever to do with the decor, bed or anything. The hotel is a glass monstrosity which blights the otherwise lovely city. The architect was wither on drugs, mad or completely wanted to not only ruin a lovely city but add discomfort to paying guests by not having a single opening window in the WHOLE building. There is not even an air brick to get fresh air into the room.

Torture: Sleep deprivation

Posted Oct 8, 2012
Pros: The location
Cons: The bed
Location: Central
Bed and pillows were extremely soft - so much so had an awful sleep on both nights. Was glad to get home to my own bed. Otherwise fine -- so if you like a soft bed this is the place for you.

Modern American style hotel in old city

Posted Aug 14, 2012
Pros: The ultra modern WC in the lobby...
Cons: Small old TV...
Location: Great central location.
Bed was comfortable, but too soft for me. TV was old. It is more or less a standard American style hotel, but clean and staff was excellent. If you want a European experience, I would go somewhere else. If you want an American style hotel, then this is the place. Lobby bar was great and staff was very helpful and freiendly.

A perfect base for a busy short holiday.

Posted Jun 23, 2012
Pros: Evening meals
Cons: Hairdryer
Location: Pleasant location on the river and handy for the town centre and rhe cathedral complex
A very comfortable hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Our only quibble would be the hairdryer in the bathroom, which was difficult to handle and produced very little heat. The food at both breakfast and evening meals was excellent and for this reason, we decided to eat all our meals here. My sister and I were grateful for the twin beds, which we had requested, but hadn't been sure of getting. We would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel as having very Hight standards and being excellent value for money.
