Second time iv stayed at this hotel. Nothing much has changed from what i can see, excellent staff and lovely rooms. Although a few years ago, dont remember having to pay for the car park. Thought 15 pound was a bit too much. Would definitely use hotel again!

We are sorry to see that you did not fully enjoy your stay with us Sanjoy. The hotel is over 100 years old and we have an ongoing investment and refurbishment programme in place. All of our bedrooms, function rooms and public areas have been completed along with considerable improvements to accessibility both inside and outside the building. We also replaced all of our balconies and decorated the outside of the front of the hotel and re-fitted our kitchens whilst closed during lockdown. Still to come is the addition of air conditioning, bathroom refurbishments plus lots of additional remedial works that guests don't see but are nevertheless essential. We hope that you will consider staying with us again in the future.

Although the hotel is dog friendly, dogs are not allowed in the restaurant for breakfast, which makes no sense. The room remains very warm at night, the pillows are not comfortable and the shower over the bath is outdated.

We are sorry to see that you did not fully enjoy your stay with us Nathalie. We do not allow dogs in our main Plantation Restaurant but instead, serve breakfast in The Snug for guests who like to dine with their dogs. Our bathrooms are all due to be updated over the next few years but as a traditional hotel, we currently have a mix of bedrooms with baths and a shower over which is quite common in most hotels in the UK, or walk-in showers. We are sorry that we didn't meet your expectations on this occasion.

Close to the centre, Clean, tidy, nice size family room, like the old features of the building. Staff were lovely. I would come back again.

Lovely comfortable family run hotel
We have stayed here before and this trip didn't disappoint. Clean and well appointed room; sea view recommended. The staff are friendly and helpful. Bar food is good. One slight negative is the £15 per night charge for parking. While this is in keeping with the local area, we only found out once the non-refundable booking had been placed. This should be indicated on the listing as it may affect the choice of hotel. Hotels.com please note.

Average room at best, not great service
Hair in shower, beaten up old fridge and all surfaces were damaged/scratched, dated room, front desk staff checked us out without looking at us once, we said morning and they ignored us (despite being less that 2 feet away from them so they definitely heard) can’t get my head around these other 5 star reviews I’m afraid. Could get the same quality in a 2 star hotel half the price

The Marsham Court Hotel is a wonderful UK Hotel, perhaps slightly shabby but the staff was wonderful, and the view of the ocean from our comfortable room was fabulous. There are all the amenities we were looking for. It is convenient for downtown Bournemouth, although many of the larger stores have moved to a shopping center on the outskirts of town. We enjoyed our stay there and recommend it to anyone staying in Bournemouth.

This is a fine beachside area with loads of potential but we came at the time of year when the weather was cooling. The room has a great view of the pier but the room was a little dated. I was however please the bath had been removed and a fine shower in it placed. Pool was closed and the town seemed a little unkept in certain parts. Meal offering were reasonable and we enjoyed a casual breakfast at the bar instead of the full English breakfast for a change.

The room was nice but expensive. Staff friendly on the desk but in the cafe area less so. The dry croissant with plastic carton of jam and an orange juice was exorbitant at £6.25.

It was excellent that the tea coffee and sugar was Fairtrade . The recycling arrangement from the room was good and the bar voucher for not having the room cleaned was an innovative idea. The information that the pool was outside could have been a bit clearer in the initial info , if the restaurant could have had a wider choice than the 3 course meal , or the bar meal options in the evening be a bit broader that would have been helpful . A nice stay though - thank you

The hotel was a little worn out. The ocean view was slightly obstructed by a big museum across from the hotel. Even though the hotel was in front of the ocean, it took about 10-15 min to reach the beach. There is no direct access to the sea. We had to walk a long passage down to the beach.

Dated, dusty and hot and uncomfortable. The only benefit was the pool, the room was extremely dusty, the windows couldn’t be opened fully and we couldn’t get an extra fan to make it cooler as the hotel didn’t have anymore. We didn’t have our room cleaned either of the days we stayed due to it being the last room on the floor, even tho we had left for the morning and came back at 1pm for our son to have a nap it still wasn’t cleaned in the first 4h we had given them. The carpet in the room needs a deep clean, radiators were incredibly dusty, we had asked the staff to change our room on 2 days due to the heat and trouble getting to the room (we had double buggy) as it had small corridor with small steps getting to our room, but the biggest issue was the cleaning caddy which was taking up the room on the small corridor with no cleaners in sight, we had to move it on several occasions just to get around to our room. The heat in the room was unbearable even tho we had the fan which was caked in dust upon our arrival and we took upon ourselves to clean it. Overall experience was poor, we left a day early as we couldn’t handle the heat in the room.

Our stay was quite good. All staff members were very cordial and helpful. My daughter had enjoyed her stay in the swimming pool allot. Location is also quite near to the beach. For those who wants to explore city in public conveyance, i would suggest to take Adult day saver for Breeze Bus Services in 5 pounds and njoy the ride in open bus. It's stand is just outside hotel. Overall we had a great time staying at the hotel.

We stayed at the Marsham Court for two nights August 23. We had a very welcoming and efficient check in and the initial impression of the hotel was good. The location couldn’t be better, near the town and beach and walkable from the station. Our room was very spacious, set up as twin beds as requested, clean and well equipped. I understand the rooms have been updated and we found ours very comfortable indeed. The pool was exceptionally clean and warm for an outdoor pool, we had a lot of fun. The bar was well run, with a good menu and a lovely acoustic guitar music performance on the night we visited. Overall a great hotel for the price.

We had a lovely stay, tv channels were disappointing for our little one, the room smelt a little bad possibly damp. Soap dispensers were empty the whole time, But on the whole the room was nice and welcoming. Staff were very nice, especially pat she really made our mornings brighter, she was like a ray of sunshine and our son absolutely loved her, definitely a 5 star member of the team. Breakfast was very nice and catered for our needs well, they had a sensory room which was a lovely calm space for special needs children, carpark is pricey unless free if you book directly with hotel, Swimming pool looked lovely and inviting but we didn’t get to use it, on the whole a very pleasant stay! Please give Pat a pay rise, she deserves it!

Small Fridge in the room was making loud noise during the night making it difficult to sleep, the breakfast was not the best we got croissants and they felt like they were 5 days old by how crumbly it was. We had already paid for everything and when we went to check out they asked us to pay extra for the breakfast which was already paid for.

Review of Marsham court August 2023
We have stayed at Marsham Court many times. It was, as always, very clean, very spacious, staff are fantastic and location is the best. The only thing which let us down this time was that in the past, we have always been allowed to use the pool on the day we checkout (they have extra changing rooms for this purpose). The day we left was raining in the morning so we took a drive then checked out at 11am. We were then told that to use the pool for an hour after that time (the rain had just stopped) would cost us £44 for two adults and two kids and needed to be booked through an external company. It was disappointing as the hotel has gone up by over £70 a night and this facility which was always available has now been taken away. We were also charged £15 a day for parking which hadnt been communicated at booking. So overall, we paid over £200 a night-added parking on top and couldn't use the hotel facilities so it was stressful and disappointing. After all our years at marsham court we are now rethinking. I appreciate that covid has had an effect but customers really do notice these little things and I think all these extras should be clearly started at the time of booking.

I can only apologise that there was confusion over the use of the pool on the day you checked out. We do indeed permit guests to make use of the facilities for the day after check-out and I am so sorry that the Receptionist told you otherwise. We do have some new team members this year and we will certainly be making sure that this is communicated to them. We have had parking charges in place for guests who do not book direct with us for several years now. We do communicate this on all external booking sites as well as in our pre-arrival email sent 3 days before check-in so I am sorry if you did not see this. I do hope that we can look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel at some point in the near future.

You are happy with: - Old and tired hotel with old and tired rooms - Pillows and duvet cheap polyester - Tired and tiny old tv from 1990s, come on this is unacceptable. - Small and cramped room. Not worth the money. - No air on. Hottest on 3rd Floor at the top of course. Old hotels are notorious for being like a slow cooker. It was only 23 degrees during the day but heat kept going all night. Only a fan for comfort - A basic breakfast, and that's being kind. little fresh fruit & horrible coffee. No excuse here. Went out to a nice cafe on the last day as I had had enough. - Dirty bathroom, not cleaned well. Again no excuse. - Charge too much for electric car charging ... £10 for 25% of your battery is a rip off. Having said that, the staff are nice. The location is good. Parking. Stay here if you like the above. Also it's very good for people with disabilities, so fair play to them. They have a target market.

We have an ongoing refurbishment programme in place and all bedrooms and public areas (excluding corridors) have been completed in the last few years. We do not currently have Air Con in our guest bedrooms but have plans to add this at the earliest opportunity, following which the corridors will also be refurbished. We have invested a great deal into improving accessibility and are now one of the most accessible hotels in the UK so its good to hear that you found this to be good.

This is a nice, conveniently located and reasonably priced hotel. Our room was clean and modern, staff are friendly and helpful, and it was lovely to swim in the heated outdoor pool. The beach and resort centre is a short walk down the hill and there’s an interesting little museum right opposite. Would recommend and visit again

Heated swimming pool was great. Our 10 years old daughter was mostly in the pool while we’re there. Some of interior could be upgraded. Car park charge is £15 per night, which we thought expensive for the residents.

Nice large family room, good clean swimming pool. Friendly staff, however poorly trained, ie it was a struggle to book in and our reservation for dinner was not passed on to the dining room staff and they did not understand the key system. The dinners were tepid and served on cold plates and tastless.

So accessible for visually impaired
At first I thought this place was shabby But when I realised more than 50% of residents were visually impaired and were treated beautifully it explained why appearances were less important They even had a sensory room

Thank you William. It's so good to hear that you found our staff and facilities and your experience to be 10 out of 10. The groups you are referring to are regular guests of ours and our staff always go out of their way to support them during their stay - as we do all of our guests. We have an ongoing refurbishment programme in place and have spent circa 3 million over the last 5 years refurbishing all of our bedrooms, public areas both inside and outside as well as substantially improving accessibility. We still have more to do but as a 100-year-old building - it's a challenge to stay within the restraints of a conservation area too. We do hope that you will choose to stay with us again in the future.
