Pros: Everything! Staff especially merit a mention for being so attentive yet subtle.
Cons: Our room was away from the main house (probably because we had dogs with us) and was a bit small but very comfortable where it mattered.
Location: Walking, beaches, sightseeing, shooting, great places to eat (alongside Moonfleet itself), Weymouth, Dorchester, Portland, New Forest...
As the website states, this is a homely unstuffy place, the kind that would be your second home if you were minor royalty! Incredibly beautiful yet without the uptightness that often goes with very styled places. Old world glamour in keeping with the age of the building. Stunning location, quite remote, and bathed constantly in magical light.

The hotel is in a great location close to the Fleet and on the coastal path and is a friendly venue for people with children and/or dogs. The hotel decor is rather quirky like a set from some old movie but it all works. The dinners were very "designer" menus and for my money I would have preferred a more prosaic menu at a lower price.
