Pros: Really good breakfast but with a few small changes it could be a brilliant breakfast. ie no toast rack, toast already buttered.
Cons: Lacking a bit of maintenance and maybe a deep clean.
Right next to busy road. Needs a bit of a spruce up.

Perfectly polite and helpful staff.Posted May 6, 2015
Pros: Everything above. Cleanliness, welcome, comfort and breakfast.
Cons: Price, rack rate steep!
Location: The very best village shop in the UK (no exaggeration, champion of champions village award) 4villages spring fete, best in Dorset/Wiltshire.
I booked this for someone that was helping me to install a stove. He had travelled from Cornwall, and waxed lyrical about his welcome, the fact others spoke to him in the bar and he was accepted and included in the local eaters and drinkers, without feeling either uncomfortable or lonely. Great room and magnificent breakfast. Well done Nina and the team.

Pros: Great character and very comfortable.
Cons: Some assistance with baggage as there are quite a few steps involved.
Location: Shaftesbury, Salisbury, Sherbourne Old Castle, Old Wardour Castle, Atonehenge, Avebury Rings
I stayed one night in The Grove Arms on my way to Dorchester and wanting to take in a few of the other sights on the way. It was cosy and welcoming with good food. Good wifi, tea/coffee making in the room and a bar just downstairs. Being an old building, it had a great atmosphere and was full of character. The only downside to that is the noise that's transmitted from other parts of the building. This wasn't a problem for me but could be if you had other inconsiderate guests. Breakfast was excellent and set me up for the busy day ahead visiting Shaftesbury and Sherbourne Old Castle on my way to the family holiday destination. There are many places to visit and this would make a wonderful focus for a few days touring. It's worth signing up with English Heritage for all the places to see. It also takes dogs. I didn't have the dog with me on this visit but will remember that for the future; the dogs even get their own breakfasts!
