Usually better but renovations cause inconvenience

Posted Apr 22, 2018
I’m a fan of the Captain Cook for the door men and the valet service primarily, best in town. This time however I was shocked to discover upon checkin there was no valet service due to ongoing renovations and the parking g was very expensive and self service. I think this should have been pointed out before reservations were made as I would have definitely stayed at an alternate location with cheaper and more convenient parking. Also my room had poor lighting and my safe wouldn’t open causing me to have to leave my room for work while hotel staff drilled the safe open. Very disappointing.

Hi Anon, Thank you for the feedback. We listen to our guests and that's why we're renovating and providing a newer and fresher look while maintaining the Captain Cook feel. Valet will be back and we look forward to your next visit. Ryan

OUTDATED

Posted Apr 17, 2018
The hotel was nice but is very outdated. The service was ok, the staff checking us in was very friendly and helpful. However the rooms seem very old. There was no microwave or fridge in our junior suite. The bathrooms, although there were two, were very small. I would recommend spending your $200+/night at a chain hotel for more modern accomodations. Also there was no parking at all and I had to pay for parking (they offered a $25 credit which did not even cover my 2 night stay) and walk to and from the hotel. There is also no breakfast accomodations that are worth the money the $20 credit (total, not per day) was not enough for my husband and I even one day. Over all I was very disappointed and expected much more from the highest rated hotel in the city. Finally, when I asked for an invoice or some type of receipt at all, I was denied and told they do not print reciepts for guests who book with expedia..

Hi Anonymous, Appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. Everything in the rooms is new, from the carpet to the furniture. Fridges are located in every room and in the Junior Suites there are 2. Since Valet Parking wasn't offered during the lobby remodel we offered a $25 parking credit per day which fully covers the cost of the garage adjacent to the Hotel . The breakfast credit is $20 per day. You prepaid for your room with Expedia, thus we don;t have a receipt to provide. I'd love to see you come back. Take care and enjoy your travels. Ryan

Change of charges

Posted Mar 23, 2018
I loved my stay but I booked a rate of 99/night and they did not honor it, they charged me 132.60/ night. For this reason I don't trust them and I will not recommend them to any one else.

Hotels staf were very friendly! Food was very good and the room was comfortable. Hotel showing its age but that didn’t take anything away from the stay at this hotel.

$7.50 for a small glass of milk? C'mon now. And would have been nice if hotel would have provided transportation at no charge for the 7 of us after a 4 night stay. Other than that everything was pleasant.

Hi Anonymous, Thank you for the feedback. We be reviewing our room service charges and as far as transportation goes, we unfortunately don’t have a shuttle. With so many of our guests either using Uber/Lift or having a vehicle of their own for exploration, implementing an airport shuttle has be reviewed heavily. Looking forward to seeing you again and thank you for staying with us. Ryan

Great place to stay!

Posted Feb 26, 2018
Pros: Great staff, rooms, and great time overall.
Cons: After having chatted with my family, we're thinking an upgrade / makeover for the pool / hot tub area might be a good idea.
Location: We went to the Little Shop of Horrors musical, Fur Rondy was also in full swing, and we walked over to the 5th Ave. Mall.
This was our first time to stay at the Captain Cook. It was a great time, great atmoshpere, and a good memory to have. Celebrated a birthday with my family, we had drinks at Fletchers and Chris, was our bartender, was awesome! The rooms we booked were fabulous as well.

Hi Anonymous, Rondy....rondezvous come on! Had to throw in the local rant about the winter festival. Sounds like you had fun which is all we can ask while you visit. We're glad your family enjoyed the atmosphere and we look forward to seeing you again. Ryan

Exceptional Hotel!

Posted Feb 25, 2018
Pros: It is in a very convenient location, the staff were wonderful, the rooms were spacious with marvelous views, and plenty of restaurant choices.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: The hotel is within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants and only a few blocks away from the Coastal Trail. A quiet location too.
We had the best time at the Captain Cook Hotel. Our room was on the 17th fl with amazing views of Anchorage and the mountains. Our room was spacious and clean and very quiet. We spent 4 nights here and loved every minute of it. The staff went above and beyond to make sure they thought of everything to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. There are plenty of restaurants and shops in the hotel to choose from if you don't feel like going out. The hotel is walking distance to everything. We will definitely stay here again. It is the best hotel in Anchorage.
