Older but clean hotel on UAB campus

Allowed early check in, which was nice. Woman was talking with her friend the whole time we checked in, which was kind of rude. She did hang up at the end to advise us where to park and how to access our room. A bit of customer service trading may be in order.

Downtown hotel in need of renovation

Pros: The staff was pleasant. The beds were comfortable. Attached parking deck.
Cons: Hallways, elevators, lobbies room and furniture were all worn, scuffed, and dirty.
Location: Good location near Five Points.
I stayed 1 night and was disappointed by the general rundown condition of the hotel. The furniture in my tiny cramped room was worn through to the frame. I found hair in the bathtub from a previous guest. All of the ice machines were out of order and appeared to have been that way for some time. the elevators and hallways were scuff-marked and screamed for new paint and carpet. I also don't appreciate being charged for internet in these days of free Wi-fi, and being charged for parking in an empty, cavernous garage seemed like a gouge.

We've stayed here several times in the past. Everything is as advertised. Nice clean comfortable room. Located just a couple of minutes from 5 Points and lots of nice restaurants.

Disappointing...

Pros: Not much.
Cons: Attention to detail, food services as advertised, asking housekeeping to come back caused them to skip my room for the day...
Location: A three to four block walk uphill will bring one to a nice restauranted area of town.
I was terribly disappointed with my stay at this hotel. After many, many, Hilton group stays, I found this a weak link in an excellent chain. Although clean, it had a feeling of being old and nondescript. Although the website for the hotel lists an in house bistro and breakfast services, neither of these were available. A four block walk was the only place to secure breakfast besides coffee in the lobby. Had I known that this was the case, I would not have stayed here. The shuttle seemed to leave at its own schedule and not one created by the hotel. Seeing it pull out 15 minutes before its schedule time caused me a bit of a dash after it.

Pros: Beds
Cons: Needs to be updated. Offer a complimentary breakfast.
Location: Near UAB hospital. It is downtown near Five Points.
Hotel very close to UAB hospital. The interior is dated, but beds comfortable. It is cheaper than Marriott.

Room not clean

Our room #304 needed a good cleaning. The bathroom had mold in the toilet, shower and floor. I actually found some medication on the floor of the bathroom. Proving to me that the floors had not been swept or vacuumed. The towels and bed sheets were fresh. The room service was prompt and very good. I was very disappointed because we have stayed at this hotel several times. Only there for one night or we would have requested another room. We arrived late and checked out early.

Dirty Sheets to Beaten Refrigerator

Original room had stains on sheet. Manager moved to a new room and the refrigerator looked like it had been beaten with a hammer. I took pictures because I could not believe this was a Double Tree room. Location of hotel was perfect but it's apparent that some updates are long overdue.

Not the Double Tree that i'm used to

1 working elevator Odor in room Running toilet Lumpy Bed Water stains on ceiling Phone did not work x2 Staff was friendly but Ive never seen a double tree in such horrible condition.

Windows were dirty on the inside on the 6th floor. Room was not vacumned and there was trash on the floor in the bathroom. No frigerator and coffee maker was as old as could be. The was smoking all over the hall.
