The Hotel Location and facilities are nice, but the service and food are not according to SOFITEL standard at all !

STAY HERE!

LOVED my stay here. The balcony view of the Nile was stunning, and I enjoyed watching the sun rise and set daily. It's a convenient location and the hotel staff are very helpful in finding transportation. I also loved the pool area - great bar service and even floaties provided to lay out in the water

Great location right on the Nile, clean hotel.

Pleasant stay at this well situated hotel away from the hustle and bustle of Cairo. This hotel is a haven away from the dirty and hot streets of Cairo and benefits from a cool breeze because of its proximity to the Nile. The taxi/ limousine staff will rip you off silly for cars, use Uber. The concierges we spoke to had bad English and often unable to help answer our questions.

Nice views of Nile - central yet secluded

Cons: Everything. Instead of saying Egypt is declining economically, employees should be going out of their way to accommodate guests - or do the minimum
Location: Relax, walk around Cairo. Take excursions if you are a tourist.
Have been coming for 11+ years and seen service go way down. On arrival I waited forever to someone to help with luggage, while three guys, smoking or arms crossed were hanging out at security. When a porter finally came - he left my suitcase and bags outside - not good for security or chocolate and medicine :) reception staff was fine. Booked the spa and the receptionist, Heba, told me to pay in advance - of course I did not, called a supervisor, who corrected her. She simply wanted to close the accounts and go home. The Gym facility was out of commission - and there was no warning on the website. When I invited a guest for brunch at the terrace, we were welcomed by "we close in 5 minutes" - I answered "good morning to you to, and there are 30 minutes left of the brunch buffet". during our meal we were harassed by a waiter who pushed my bill to close, as his "shift ended" (clearly he wanted a tip - for having done nothing during our self-service). I called a supervisor - and a nice mr. Ahmed took very good care of us. At the pool, there is no longer any decorum, various groups have their own blaring music competing in cacophony with other guests and the evening set up on the Nile venue. The room needs cleaning - there were dust fluff from months on the wooden backboard - I showed to the receptionist, and the carpets clearly need cleaning. the elevators were constantly malfunctioning - so one had to go back to the reception or get help That said, the venue is fine.

Food was expensive but good quality. Casino has indoor smoking which was uncomfortable for me. Very nice room. Very nice view. Excellent pool and outdoor area. Good breakfast selection.

Old building and noise from housekeeping can be very noisy. Not recommended for vacation.
