Cons: Bar staff. Slow service.
Decent stay for one night after a concert. Far walk from downtown if the weather is not good. Nice check in staff.

We think guests should feel welcomed the moment they walk through our doors, and we love knowing our team made you feel at home. Always know that our team is more than happy to help arrange transportation because we don't want weather to get in the way of a good time. We're sharing your comments about the bar service with the team at Red Dunn Kitchen because we want you to be able to start your evening with a drink in hand.

One Rude Staff Member Ruins a Trip

Posted Sep 14, 2017
Pros: location, room design
Cons: train managers to think about the situation of the guest before they act
Location: near t-stop, easy access to Cambridge and Boston
I invited my wife out to extend a business trip by a few days, and planned on one full day at this property, and one at the Marriott Envoy. While my wife slept after her flight, I searched for a quiet place in the hotel in which to do a bit of work. Because there is music throughout the property, this is not an easy task. I did find a small conference room (8 seats) in the meeting room section of the property. The room was open, unlocked, and lit. I sat down at the desk and worked, without seeing anyone in the area (there were no functions in any of the rooms as it was a Saturday.) . After about 90 minutes, two ladies showed up and asked if I had "rented this room?" I replied that I had not, but could not find a quiet space. Without posting the entire conversation, I was directed to leave the room immediately, and that the LOBBY was considered the business center, and I could sit in the lobby (between the hotel entrance and the registration desk) for my business center use. As the CEO of a patient focused, satisfaction driven organization, I hope my team never treats any patient, family, or other customer as if they are an intruder, or had somehow stolen the use of a room. In my 25 years of business travel, I have never encountered someone so rude, and so unconcerned with the needs of a customer. One other hotel staff member did issue a whispered apology, but they were clearly not authorized to do so.

Pros: Interior Design
Cons: Staff training-customer service
Good over all. Loved design and food. Close enough to the Comerica park and Downtown attractions. I loved the bike rentals. It is a clean and very interesting hotel to stay.

Hello Marian, At Trumbull and Porter Hotel, we love to combine comfort and contemporary design, and we love to combine the big city culture with the smaller, boutique hotel service guests can count on. We're sharing your feedback with our team because treating our guests right is one of the most important features of our hotel. It sounds like you enjoyed some of our favorite places (Comerica Park!), and the best part is, from our hotel, getting there is a breeze. We'd love to be your home-away-from-home anytime you visit the city and hope to see you again the next time you're in Detroit.

old hotel with some new paint slapped on and a janky minimal decor vibe. clean and fine, but not worth the price.

We're sorry to hear you didn't love your visit and are sharing your feedback with our team. During our recent renovations, whenever possible, furniture, soft goods, and accessories were sourced from Detroit companies as it is our mission to support our city. We're sorry our new look didn't catch your eye and our price point wasn't a good fit for you. It's our sincere desire to offer guests a stay they'll love and we're listening carefully to your experience.

Affordable, chic, perfect location!

Posted Jun 30, 2017
Pros: The urban furnishings were unique. It's warm, but has the aesthetic qualities of a loft. AWESOME view of the Ambassador Bridge from our room!
Cons: One thing I found slightly unnerving was one of the doors coming from the guest parking lot was propped open for a while. Probably for staff use.
Location: The location was awesome. You could walk to bars/shops/restaurants in the Corktown area. Super short drive the all major city attractions.
This place is just really cool. Check-in and check-out were easy. I was concerned about parking my car in the city. The hotel offers gated parking for $10/night, which is dirt cheap compared to Chicago and other major cities. I liked the communal seating throughout the hotel. There were places to sit indoors and outdoors. There is a fire pit with seating around it, which I've never seen at a hotel in the city! Restaurant, bar, cafe (coffee/cappuccino, etc), and a small store all within the hotel.

Happy Couple

Refreshing experience to stay in a hotel that isn't the same old box with your beds on the left side of the room. Unlike your average hotel the Trumbull & Porter had spirit, style, & character while delivering on everything a hotel needs to be.

Ok budget hotel.

Unfortunately they did not clean my room the last night out of 3 nights. The iron stained my shirt since it was rusty. Low price with low amenities. Coffee shop was really good.

An excellent hotel

Posted Jun 16, 2017 on Hotels
They did an amazing job with the renovations on this hotel. While there was still some construction going on, the entire place was spotless. The staff was excellent, very friendly & great knowledge of things to do in the area. I would definitely recommend this hotel, as well as stay here again in the future. Keep up the great work!

Hello Desiree, We love knowing we’re your go-to Detroit hotel and are blushing a little at all of your kind words! We couldn’t be more proud to be part of Detroit’s revitalization and having a team in place that makes your city experience the best it can be is at the heart of what we do. Wonderful changes continue at our hotel, and if you didn’t get a chance to try it, the newly-opened Red Dunn Kitchen is the latest highlight. It’s already a local’s favorite and an equally wonderful reason to return. We hope your next visit is soon because we’re already looking forward to it!

We’re sorry to see your visit disappointed, Sara. Peace and quiet are essential when you’re ready to relax, and we’re taking your feedback into careful consideration. We’re also sorry our location disappointed. Being central to Ford Field, Comerica Park, Greektown, the Henry Ford Museum—and at the heart of the up-and-coming Corktown neighborhood is a highlight of our hotel. Our team would be more than happy to help you find the best ways around the city, and we’d love another chance to win you over and offer you the Detroit experience you’re looking for!
