A weekend before Christmas

Posted Dec 19, 2016 on Hotels
It was a base for a weekend vacation just before Christmas. While the nearby Marche Noel (just out the train station) was dissapointing, it was still a good base for exploring the city, and also for trip ouside - the excellent Christmas market at Montreaux, the cable car trip on Mt. Saleve.

Thank you for sharing your experience at Novotel Geneve Centre. Your feedback is really important to us to improve our quality of service daily. While going out to enjoy the city center do not hesitate to take a right when leaving from the hotel and you will enjoy a quiet walk to the lake in just few minutes. Our fitness is opened 24/7. Our steam room and sauna are switched on at different time during the day. Do not hesitate to call our front desk to make sure they are switched on. Looking forward to welcoming you soon. Sincerely yours,

Awful but jaundiced by ridiculous price hype

Posted Oct 1, 2016
Pros: Not much
Cons: Better selection of toiletries Real cups to make coffee/tea A shower-screen/bath/tap arrangement that wasn't designed by an apparent lunatic.
Location: Convenient for station (and thus airport) and colourful area if you like hookers lining the streets.
Had to be in Geneva for a couple of days and unfortunately coincided with a major international conference and this was only hotel on Expedia not 'sold out'. Presumably because of the demand the price for a modest small room was seemingly near double usual rate. Ridiculous price hype. And surely no hotel that has electric kettle but disposable cardboard cups in the room and minimal toiletries can be 4 star. Breakfast mediocre, and not good value. (and weighing down a bed with a load of useless cushions does not constitute 'luxury' - but that is more of a general hotel gripe) I stay in a lot of hotels in a lot of places around the world and in terms of value for money this is bottom of list so far. No more Novotels.

Thank you for your time. We do apologize if our hotel did not meet your expectations in terms of products and service. We do offer a buffet breakfast with a range of hot and cold products appreciated by international travelers. Sincerely yours,

Great hotel - okay location

Posted Sep 19, 2016
Pros: Close to shops, lake and transport. Comfortable room and spa was decent.
Cons: Would have been nice to have robes and slippers in the room. There are some for the spa but none in the room.
Location: Free pass allows you to easily explore the many sights Geneva has to offer.
I booked this hotel for a midweek holiday with friends. We arrived before the alloted Check-in time and were advised pleasantly by staff the room was not yet ready, however we can complete our check in, store our luggage at the hotel and come back later. Alternatively we could use the hotel facilities if we liked. We were provided with free public transport passes - which work on the trains, trams, busses, and river boats (perfect way to cross the river and take in a few of the sights). The hotel itself is located in a red light district area, so you may find it intimidating if you are returning late at night and are alone. Hotel is 10 min walk to the lake, Geneva station (most bus/tram and train routes alight here). We were out as a group and it wasn't too bad. Spa facilities were good, nice to get some quiet time and wind down.
