Great locationPosted Mar 11, 2018
Ck in easy...garage is a nightmare..hotel has different sets of elevators going to different floors. Room was comfy with good mattress and good linens. All areas seemed very clean. Pool was small but never crowded while we were there. They call their elevators secure, but that is a joke. The person closest to the buttons hits every floor for everyone..so no security at all! Water jugs available in lobby but empty by 7pm and never filled. All in all not a bad hotel, you can walk anywhere. Would probably try wyndham if staying again just to compare.

Close to downtown attractionsPosted Nov 28, 2017
Pros: Hotel staff
Cons: Cleanliness, comfort
This hotel has a great location downtown. Parking is not free, so make sure you account for that. The lobby and front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. Walls are thin - we could hear conversations in the hallway very clearly. Bathroom badly needed updating - toilet ran water, faucet was stiff, and floor tiles were discolored. The shower had hair in it, and the showerhead was very low. I'm only 5'6'' and had to duck down to properly wash shampoo out of my hair. The bed was fine, and room had a refrigerator inside. Overall, I expected more from a DoubleTree hotel.

Downtown events block hotel accessPosted Nov 3, 2017 on Hotels
The President Abraham Lincoln hotel is an older property that's well maintained while still having plenty of "old school charm." All the staff were very professional & courteous, to an extent that's rarely found these days. I experienced one significant problem during my stay - on a Saturday evening, the entirety of downtown was blocked off by police cars for an event, the blocked area including access to the hotel. Because of the event, I couldn't even find a parking place to park the car & walk into the hotel. City of Springfield needs to consider the benefits of having events in the downtown area vs. blocking access to two of the nicest hotels in town (the Abraham Lincoln & another hotel across the street). I gave up on getting back to the hotel after a day of sightseeing & went to dinner in another part of town - the police blockade ended at 10 p.m. & I was able to get back to the hotel. This incident, though no fault of the hotel's, really put a blemish on an otherwise nice weekend trip to Springfield.

EV Charging Station needed at hotel!!Posted Oct 20, 2017 on Hotels
My husband (who accompanied me to a conference at Wyndham) spent the better part of the two days at an offsite EV charging station.
