Pros: The hotel is in a historic building and charming area of old downtown Houston.
I experienced a few check-in mishaps that probably could have been avoided, but the staff did their best to make my stay a pleasant one.

I used the room to propose. The staff was very polite and professional dealing with me while I was very nervous. They were very accommodating while I brought my friends in to help me set up the room for the proposal. The pictures don’t do it justice. It’s very nice and very romantic. Btw, I got a yes!

Great stay!

We were here for an overnight layover. The hotel is beautiful. Our room was clean & cozy with a nice view. Staff was friendly & helpful.

Badly managed hotel

Do not pay full price for this hotel, it is not the hotel that is represented and is far from luxury. We just checked out of Hotel ICON and were extremely disappointed in our experience. We booked the King room with Whirlpool tub far in advance of our stay, and paid the extra amount to guarantee our stay. This was a weekend away from our kid and we wanted to have the unique, relaxing, experience that ICON markets. However, when we got to check in the rooms were "all under maintenance" and we were instantly downgraded with a offer for breakfast in the morning. We had a paid two night stay downgraded with a breakfast buffet offered, which seemed off. After looking at the room, and our parking garage view (rather than the City view we already paid for), the front desk told us to speak to a manager in the morning and moved us to another downgraded room but with a City view. The floor we were moved to had room service trays sitting out at check in that were still sitting out by lunchtime the next day, which gives you a good image of the overall cleanliness of the place. The next day there was never a manager available, and the story had changed to the hotel being "completely booked" the night before. Nothing about maintenance. I assume that because we checked in at 6pm that our room had just been given away to another guest, with no regard to which rooms were already booked. The night before I checked rates and availability on multiple sites for Hotel ICON, which showed rooms

We had problems locating the property, but it was a hotel we would choose to visit again. The $20 breakfast buffet was overpriced.

Perfect Location For What's Happening Downtown

Cons: Not Much
Location: Market Square bars including La Carafe the oldest building in Houston. Cash, Beer & Wine Only. Batanga & The Millennials Bar the Saloon plus many more
If you want to be next to Market Square, all the best Restaurants, Bars, and Theaters the Icon is the place. Walking distance to everything fun. Astros/Rockets/Dynamo/Convention Center short Uber ride away. Not cheap, but worth it. Rooms are large and bathrooms are huge. Food is excellent, but pricey. Don't use valet it's very expensive. Park it yourself. It's a First Class Hotel with all the expected amenities.
