No hot water

Posted Feb 1, 2018
Pros: Location
Cons: Have hot water in the shower and get rid of the smell in the room.
The hotel was incredibly convenient for where I needed to be but there was no hot water in the shower and there was a "funky" smell in the room.

Good value and location

Posted Jan 29, 2018
Pros: Staff were welcoming and helpful. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable.
Cons: Bathroom floor tiles not in best repair. Shower is quite small, it's difficult not to splash water outside of the stall when adjusting temperature.
Location: Hotel is in downtown area several blocks from Union Station, Chinatown, Little Tokyo and Disney music hall.
I enjoyed my stay at this modest, but entirely adequate hotel.

Unexpected

Posted Jan 27, 2018
The room is noisy by A/C, bathroom switch-on, outside and next door room, cannot sleep until midnight and/or after midnight. And parking , you need to pay extra. Better to find another hotel with parking space, might be cheaper by total cost and convenience.

Best Kept Secret

Posted Jan 23, 2018
Pros: Location, price, ambience.
Cons: Shower water temperature is erratic.
Location: Subway stops, parks, restaurants, bars, museums...on and on!
If you're ok with small rooms and bare basic amenities, you'll love this hotel. Like a European/Japanese boutique hotel, reminds me of San Francisco boutiques. Awesome location and prices can't be beat!

Great location but no hot water

Posted Jan 22, 2018
We have stayed at the Kawada many times and it was fine. The price is reasonable and easy walking distance to Disney Hall, the Broad, MOMA, Grand Central Market, the Last Bookstore, and other great DTLA attractions. Unfortunately, this last stay was very unsatisfactory. We needed to be out early and found that the water was not hot enough to shower, the sink did not drain well, and the toilet had so little suction you had to flush it multiple times. I wouldn't suggest not staying here but before you settle in I would check the plumbing. We were on the 4th floor. Maybe it's better on lower floors.

close to the Stanley most courthouse

The room is really small. The shower doesn't even has a door. The quilt is paper thin. But it has everything I need. So I give four stars

Basic hotel right in the downtown of LA. The rooms were small but functional, typical to a downtown hotel. The checkin was quick and efficient and I enjoyed my stay.

Decent hotel

Posted Jan 15, 2018
The hotel room is more or less the size of a bedroom in a house and the bathroom isn’t that big as well. There is complimentary hand soap, body wash and shampoo but it’s from a dispenser. Overall reminds me of a dorm room. There is a distinct smell to the room. Not that it smells bad but maybe old? Not sure how to describe it but the minute my husband and I smelled the room reminded us how our hotels smelled when we visited Philippines. If you’re looking for a cheap place to stay and not expecting a lot this is the place. It’s close to a lot of venues in Downtown L.A.

Downtown Los Angeles

Posted Jan 10, 2018
Only parking is valet which costs $22. Seems like construction or remodeling was being done on every floor. The noise from this started early around 7am which didn't allow me to sleep in. There was no hot water until the next day at 1030am. There was hair in the shower. The bed was very hard. The ac/heater would not stay on nor would it go any lower than 65 degrees.
