The hotel is right on the Malecon and the terrace outside our room looked directly at the ocean view. The room was huge and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Easy walking distance to Old Mazatlan centre.
The room was quiet, with a cozy bed, and a view of the ocean through a window.
However, Casa Lucila lacks the details of a 5 Star boutique; coffee/tea maker, fresh flowers, fresh fruit, dark chocolate, a fresh robe daily. The room actually feels austere
(Gran Maria Boutique, in Morelia, is a prime example of a 5 Star)
Everything is gorgeous, although the pool is much smaller than what it looks like in the photos. A bit annoying that our room was right next to the pool and very loud people woke us up at 6am on sunday. The rest of the stay was great. Best place to stay in Mazatlan.
We booked a room at this hotel through Expedia. When we arrived we were put into a smaller room than we booked and paid for. Tried to have the problem fixed but had no luck. I would like Expedia to contact me. The hotel is a great place to stay. I just wish we could get what we paid for.
Very nice staff. They gave me upgrade which I asked for but did not recognize VIP free upgrade. Charge for upgrade was fair and staff helped me get room I wanted. Overall great staff and cute hotel and nice location.
Location in Olas Altas is terrific but do NOT stay in Alma room, where I stayed for three nights. My clothes, my two suitcases, and even my purse smelled of mildew after just three days there. I noticed the smell as soon as I walked in but when I turned on the air conditioner it seemed to go away. Every time I came back from going out, however, the air had been turned off and the smell was back, strong. It smelled of dampness and I unknowingly carried that stench with me back to Boston. I just dropped off 9 items at the dry cleaners and am washing the rest of my clothes for the 3rd (!) time in hot water. I don't know what else to do. I don't know how the smell can still cling to the clothes. It is awful. I don't know if the other rooms have this issue but don't book Alma. You will regret it. It is definitely not worth the stay for this amount of hassle to try to get the smell of that room off my clothes and suitcases.
We had a great 8 night stay at Casa Lucila! The room (marina room) was awesome. Lots of space. Had all of the regular amenities; if there wasnt something we just asked the staff for it. That room has a jacuzzi tub, as well as a large walk in shower. The staff at Casa Lucila was very nice. They were very personable to talk to. They were also very attentive to making sure our stay was great.
Hand down one of the top 5 hotels my wife and I have stayed at throughout the world. Beautiful views from our room that I don't think can be matched by any other hotel in Mazatlan.
Casa Lucila was the nicest hotel in Matzatlan. It’s in the historical district so it’s far from the bustle of city center. Short walk to a gorgeous beach, great for swimming. If you can leave the heated hotel pool with ocean views! So many restaurants a short walk away & taxis were easy to hail if you needed one.
The staff were so friendly & helpful & spoke perfect English. Slice of heaven.

The property is nice, the view is amazing, the room was very nice, the pool is in need of some attention. The 25$ credit I was given in my email from Expedia was not honored, even though it was clearly printed on my email. This was a disappointment that will likley keep me from returning to this property.
Leaking windows and doors in the room. Room got so wet during tropical storm that they had to move us into a lesser hotel in town without beachfront which we paid for. They offered us a refund but I have not seen it yet. Expedia VIP benefit? 25 dollars hotel credit. They said if we wanted a room upgrade we had to pay for it. Even though we were the only guests in the hotel. Inadequate air conditioning. Room was cool. Bathroom steaming hot.
Still waiting for my refund offered in writing by the hotel
The front desk staff was unable to provide an upgrade. I was told to speak to Grisel, but she did not return my call. It was very disappointing not to be able to get one of the rooms facing the ocean. The staff ought to be trained on customer service skills.
I loved it all view was the best the service the staff bar tender the guard so polite and very helpful the only thing not that say I hate it but pool closes at seven 😞but it’s worth it I would go back and stay
