Pros: Close proximity to all attractions
Cons: Noise level
Close to all attractions....a little noisy being on the main street and with the ball park directly across the street. Front desk staff very friendly and knowledgeable. The valet service could have been a bit more organized and swift with service.

I would not recommend this hotel!

Posted Aug 22, 2017
Pros: The only good thing that I could say about this hotel is that the person who checked us in was friendly, but other than that, this hotel was not good.
Cons: There would be a long list of improvements here: the pool, parking, the restaurant, the plumbing, the air quality in the rooms.
Location: The Peabody Hotel is across the street and so is Autozone Park. Beale Street is a 3-4 block walk.
One of the reasons that we chose this hotel was because it had a pool. What was pictured online could not have been the same hotel. The pool here was green and it looked like a swamp. It was unusable. This hotel is old and run down, and not very clean. The plumbing is old and toilets didn't flush well and were stained. There are no fans in the bathroom so the humidity in the room after a taking shower was stifling. There is no self-parking, so every time that we wanted to go somewhere, it was a 20 minute wait for our car, and there was a traffic jam in the front constantly because there is only a small half-circle drive in the front. There is also construction and crumbling buildings around the hotel, not a pleasant site; and the Autozone ballpark is across the street so it is really congested when there is a ball game. There is not enough seating in the hotel restaurant, and it was cramped and not very clean. All in all, not a good experience. I would not recommend this hotel.

Southern Hospitality at it's best

Posted Aug 22, 2017
I've stayed at this wonderful hotel three times in the past and overall have been satisfied. This time was no difference, but noticing the age of the hotel and it needs updating. Plumbing was slow(toilet and sink) and carpet instead of hardwood in rooms 😔. I will recommend hotel to friends and family, but I will stay at a newer more modern hotel next time we visit.

Unfortunate experience

Posted Aug 18, 2017 on Hotels
The trip started off not on the best foot right out of the gate. Pulled up to valet to have the valet attendant tell us to bring our keys inside and someone would help us. Odd. Get to front desk to have 3 front desk clerks staring down at their computers and not acknowledge our arrival. When finally did, they were missing one of the rooms from our Hotels.Com reservation. Not their fault. They told us they were sold out, but were able to accommodate my coworker. Get to my room and key doesn't work. Go back down to desk to have clerk ask me if I tried it. (Really?) Three of the five days we were there the front door key did not work and had to go to front desk. Maybe replaced door battery as it worked last two days. Valet service was spotty at best. One gentleman was very friendly and fast, but unfortunately I didn't get his name. Multiple times I was told to bring my keys to the valet desk inside to find 3 or 4 valets standing around. Again, odd. Area- when asked about walking to a specific restaurant, one valet just said, be careful. Location- convenient to ballpark, and close enough to a variety of restaurants and to Beale street if that is your thing. Room- As mentioned, door key didn't work 3 of 4 days. Light out in bathroom the entire time. Figured housekeeping would have reported it. Ceiling tiles all pushed up and open in shower. Metal flange fell off of tub on off. Side note- cookies were good!

Our service was ok ; beautiful clean hotel

Posted Aug 16, 2017 on Hotels
Our room was super clean and the hotel was very new and beautiful . We were disappointed that when we went to swim we were told the pool had a bat area and server . When we got there they were gone and were told the bar server went to help with a wedding . We were disappointed in this . Also our breakfast buffet was sloppy . The plates were wet and the utensils and food options were picked over and it was only 8 am . They did not prepare for a full house .

The staff is PHENOMENAL!!!

Posted Aug 11, 2017 on Hotels
The Double Tree was in a super convenient location! I loved the staff, from the valet to the housekeeper, everyone was polite, respectful, cheerful and incredibly helpful! The only drawback is the lack of breakfast choices. I don't expect free, but a $13.00 breakfast buffet seems a little steep for waffles, bagels, cereal, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and biscuits and gravy. Considering, most people will only go for an entree, a little meat and some potatoes or toast. You could get an omelet, also. It just seems there might be a middle ground...

The location is withing easy walking distance from a variety of restaurants and Beale Street. As in any downtown you will find a number of panhandlers. I was a bit disappointed in the hotel against my expectations for the brand. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the public areas are in good condition, but the room was a disappointment. The decor and furnishings are dated and deteriorating. It is time for an update.
