Sleepless in Memphis

Posted Sep 7, 2017
Pros: Wifi- reliable and working well
Cons: train the RECEPTION to provide consistent great customer service.
Location: Central BBQ- about 25 minutes walk Gus chicken- about 25 minutes walk Beale street- 15 minutes walk
Customer service- when I checked in, I asked the reception if my room will be noisy as it is close to the elevators. She responded no. The next day, I was woken by the construction noise approx. 7am. Called and complained to reception who responded there is nothing she can do. Went down to speak to the same reception with the same response. Request to speak to a manager and the manager past me back to the reception. Reception told me there is a room avail 3 floors up but I have to wait until after 3pm. I got back to hotel at 9pm and the room higher up was not available by then. Went back to my room and was disappointed to see it wasn't clean. Their excuse was that they were waiting for me to switch room. Well, if you did not switch my room, SHOULDN'T YOU AT LEAST CLEAN THE ROOM??? Also, if you had communicate well in advance to inform me to pack my stuff so you can switch my room without waiting for my return, I would have done so. The day I checked out Aug 24th, the manager listened to my concern and was able to compensate me. However, it was a little too late as I have 2 SLEEPLESS NIGHTS! Good effort but the damage was done. I paid for good rest which I get none. Location- 15 minutes walk from Beale. Safe to walk in the day but lots of homeless people a few blocks away. 1 Queen Bed Room- very small, not enough counter space in the washroom. Bathroom is designed to ensure lawsuits. Why install a door half the size of the bath tub? So people can slipped on wet floor!

Puzzling rating of this hotel

Posted Sep 4, 2017
Pros: Service & facilities
Cons: Everything
The hotel has an ok location. After that it's kind of downhill. Arrived in pouring rain, no valet in sight though there were no other cars. After about 5 minutes went in and found the valet standing in the hotel to stay out of the rain. All other service at the hotel was similarly lack-luster. The hotel itself is sort of a dated version of a W Hotel ala the year 2000 - not awful, just not pleasant. In all, if service doesn't matter to you *at all*, it's not the worst place you'll ever stay. However, based on other ratings, I was deciding between this place and the Peabody - that was a false choice as the Peabody, with similar ratings, is head and shoulders above the Madison in every conceivable way.

Well intended but needs Housekeeping

Posted Aug 29, 2017
Pros: Rooftop bar, location
Cons: Housekeeping cleanliness and attitude
Location: Beale Street 4 blocks away
Nicely designed and well located hotel in central Memphis. Loved the rooftop bar and the service in the restaurant and front desk was excellent. The downside is with housekeeping. The room could be cleaner, but the housekeepers don't pay any attention to trash in the hallways, even after bringing it to their attention. Room cleanup was cursory, so it was neat, but didn't feel as clean as it could be. Seems that this could be easily fixed with better training and management of the housekeeping staff.

Thank you for letting me know about your concerns. I would like to apologize for the rudeness of our staff and the cleanliness issues you experienced. You should not have been charged any additional amount. I would like to correct this error if you would like us to but I am unable to locate this reservation based on the name Susie. We will speak to Kaley immediately about the service she provided - this is not what we expect from our team members. Again, thank you for sharing with me about your experience.
